    Q
What is the best way to use D-Force HPX Aerosol for bed bug control?
We live in an apartment building where many tenants seem to have a bedbug problem. Some have even been found in the laundry room. After eliminating the initial infestation, should we use D-Force again to prevent re infestation, and if so, how soon and/or often? We actually found two adults in our search with no visible excrement and no visible eggs after a thorough search of box springs, drawers and closets. Do you think it is necessary to do the whole apartment or will doing the bedroom suffice?
    A

If you were to use one product for prevention and/or treatment of bed bugs, then we would recommend Bedlam.  It is our most popular product and it will kill adult bed bugs as well as bed bug eggs.  D-Force will not kill bed bug eggs, and there is a concern of bed bugs becoming resistant to D-Force.  If you have only found bed bugs in your bedroom then it would probably be OK to only treat that room, but if bed bugs were found all over different areas of the buildings, then you should treat the whole unit for adequate protection.  Also, if you have been sleeping on a couch instead of your room then you would want to treat the whole apartment.  You should use one of our Bed Bug Kits for optimal results.

    Q
How long does it take D-Force HPX to dry?
    A
D Force HPX Aerosol will usually dry within 20 minutes after application.  Most professional companies will give a time frame of 30 minutes just to be safe.  It dries rather quickly though and then it is perfectly safe to allow people and pets back into the area.

    Q
How do you get rid of flying ants?
For the past two weeks I have been finding dead flying ants in my kitchen and bathroom. I live in a condo with an attic, I have searched but cannot find the colony, what do you recommend to get rid of them?
    A
First off you should make sure they are definitely swarming ants and not swarming termites, which are sometimes confused with swarming ants.  If they are ants, then it is very hard to get rid of the problem until they stop swarming on their own unless you know where they are getting in.  You can treat all baseboards, cracks and crevices, window sills, and other areas with a residual aerosol to try to kill the ants as they are entering the bathrooms, but other than that there are not many options if you have no idea where they are getting in.  We would recommend D-Force HPX Aerosol to use around the baseboards and other areas.

    Q
You recommend BedLam over D-Force HPX for bedbugs, but can D-Force HPX be used in combination with BedLam without diminishing the efficacy of the two products?
    A
Yes, you can use both Bedlam and D-Force HPX in your bedbug treatment program. Since neither product is a "non-repellent", there is no worry about diminishing the efficacy by using them together. We usually suggest Bedlam for bedbug treatments because it is labeled to be applied to many sensitive areas that other insecticides are not and because it is known to kill all stages of bedbugs including the eggs.

    Q
Will D-Force HPX D-Force HPX kills bees?
I am not sure if it is honey bees but it looks like it is going under my shade. Do you think this will kill them?
    A
D-Force HPX is labeled for bees and should do a great job for you. Please note that D-force is not a knockdown agent and even bees that are sprayed directly with the product may not die right away. We do carry Wasp Freeze which does have a very fast knockdown and can shoot up to 15 feet away.

    Q
I sprayed D-Force Aerosol in cracks, behind doors and around baseboards before I went to work and it was still wet when I got home. Is it supposed to take this long to dry?
    A

D-Force Aerosol can take longer to dry if overapplied.  Treated areas should just be lightly sprayed, not soaked to the point of runoff.  If there is still some left after a few hours it would be best to wipe away the excess.

    Q
I have found 3 bugs that look like carpet beetles in my house. Should I be concerned? Should I take action?
I found them in my bedroom. Is there anything that I should be doing?
    A
The main thing you should do is a thorough inspection to see if you can find any infested items. If you do find infested items it will be necessary to thoroughly clean the area or dispose of the infested item and treat the cracks and crevices with a residual spray such as D-Force HPX. You can learn more about carpet beetles by reading our article Carpet Beetle Pest Control

    Q
    Grain/Flour Weevil
I had grain/flour weevil in my panty closet last summer. I managed to clean it out but now I am seeing the weevil in my kitchen cabinets. I found a bunch under the sink in the cabinet. Not sure what they were feeding on as there is no food in any of those cabinets. Looks like they may be under and behind the cabinet. Could they be feeding on crumbs under the cabinets? I can get under there or behind to clean it out obviously. Hoping D Force will work for me. thanks.
    A
D-Force HPX is labeled to treat for weevils. You will need to remove all food, utensils and shelf paper from the area being treated. Discard the shelf paper and any infected food. Apply the spray to the shelves and in cracks and crevices behind and under cabinets.

    Q
Will D-Force HPX kill spiders that live in the upper corners of rooms in my apartment?
I live in an apartment that seems to be a spider magnet! Every couple of weeks I have to vacuum the corners of the ceilings because of the spiders. Can D-Force HPX be used for this problem? Also, does this product stain? The walls are white.
    A
D-Force HPX will kill spiders, but it does not offer an immediate knockdown. Using a good residual product such, as D-Force HPX, around door frames, window frames, baseboards, places where cables, pipes or wires enter through the walls and any other cracks or crevice will not only help kill the spiders, but it will also kill other insects which is what the spiders are there to feed on. By removing the other insects, you will be able to stop new spiders from moving in and you will be able to break the cycle of spider infestation. You should also use glue boards under sinks and in cabinets, under and behind furniture and appliances and in the back of closets and storage spaces which will help monitor infestations and remove insects and spiders from your apartment. D-Force HPX should not stain when used as directed on the product label but we still recommend testing it on a small inconspicuous area to be sure.

    Q
Black widows hatched in my car, what is the best way to get rid of them?
    A

That is a difficult and hard place to treat spiders. You can use a contact kill spray such as Sterifab to kill any of the spiders that you see. We recommend that you vacuum and then use D-Force HPX that is labeled for use in automobiles. We also recommend contacting Your Local Cooperative Extension Office for help on which products to use for spiders in your car.

    Q
    Is D-Force safe for babies?
After D-Force dries, is it safe for my baby to touch the baseboards, etc?
    A
When applied according to the D-Force HPX product label (directly into cracks and crevices around baseboards, door frames, window frames, under appliances) and the area has had a chance to dry, it should be safe for your baby to contact treated areas. Most treated areas will be inaccessible to your child when applied according to the product label.

    Q
How to get rid of millipedes worms?
They are all in my home. Especially in our bathroom. We sweep at least 4 or more times. What can we do to fix this problem?
    A
    First you want to
    • Repair cracks, crevices, and gaps around windows, doors, pipes and wires with sealant or caulk
    • Makes sure the screens and door sweeps on windows and doors are tight-fitting

Then you want to flush out the area with an adulticide like:

CB Air Devil HPX is a cypermethrin residual contact kill aerosol that HPX is specially formulated to clear out large numbers of target insects fast, and provides up to 3 months of protection. For treatment of millipedes, spray CB Air Devil around doors and windows and other areas where millipedes may be found or where they may enter premises. Spray baseboards, storage areas and other locations. Repeat as necessary.

Next you want to do the perimeter treatment indoors and out.

Demand CS, Suspend SC, and Cyper WP are residual liquid formulation pesticides that are added to water and applied with a low-pressure sprayer can provide a powerful residual that continues working for 4 to 8 weeks following application. These residual liquid formulations can be sprayed along the outside perimeter of the home (especially under and around eaves, decks, patios, and window shutters), and inside along baseboards, in cracks and crevices, and other potential millipede harborages. You will know the residual is working because you will begin finding only dead millipedes rather than live ones.

Wil D-Force HPX kill pantry moth larvae and eggs?
How often do I need to reapply it to cracks and crevices?
    A

Yes, D-Force HPX will kill the moth larvae, and could possibly kill the adults should they come in contact with the treated surface long enough to get a lethal dose. This product can provide up to an 8 week residual, and it kills on contact, as well.

Can D-Force HPX aerosol and Essentria D Dust be used in the same areas?
Can the D-force HPX be applied to a target area and after applied , can I apply Essentria D Dust over the same target area? I want to use both products as a combination attack against the pest in the same target areas.
    A
Yes, you can use D-Force HPX and Essentria D Dust in the same areas as a combination.  Both products are meant to be applied in cracks and crevices, under appliances, and inside wall voids.  Both products will also leave a residual to treat long term.

    Q
Can D-force HPX be used to kill clothes moths adults as well as larvae?
    A

D Force HPX could kill adult moths if they were to land on a treated surface long enough to receive a lethal dose.  It is more for cracks and crevices where the larvae are though and would be easier for them to contact while crawling in these areas.  Adults are best treated using traps.  Please refer to our guide on "How to Get Rid of Clothes Moths" for complete treatment advice.

    Q
What is a good product similar to D-Force HPX for total spider elimination?
I have used D-Force HPX to kill spiders on contact and in our cars (around tire wells, in the trunks and around the doors). I have a serious brown widow problem that is getting worse each week. They are outside our house and inside our 1200 square foot shop. I have used D-Force HPX with great success when I hit the spider directly. Is there a product that works this good, but that will cover the entire shop and isn't so expensive for such a large area. How can I kill them without spraying them direcly? I have noticed that if the spiders do not crawl across any chemicals they will not die. I have used spray foggers to no avail and just sprayed inside and outside the house and shop with Cyonara too. Any suggestions?
    A
Demon WP is a great choice for spider control. Demon WP is a wettable powder that is diluted in water, and then sprayed around door frames, window frames, in areas where utilities (cables, pipes, wires) enter into a structure, around the bottom of the foundation and other area where insects are known to harbor. Demon WP will also eliminate the other insects in the area which in turn will help discourage other spiders from moving in since they will not have a food source to rely on.  Demon WP can leave a white powdery residue on dark surfaces. If the powdery residue is a concern you can choose a micro-encapsulated product such as Onslaught.
