    Q
What brand of Pre-Emergent do you recommend to control crabgrass on a Zoysia Lawn in central Mississippi?
Should I wait until the Zoysia is beginning to start sprouting or apply Pre-Emergent while Zoysia is still dormant?
    A

Dimension 2EW will work great for Crabgrass Pre-emergent in a Zoysia Lawn. Be sure that you make your application in the Spring around Mid-March. As long as the lawn is established it will not matter if the Zoysia is emerged or not. It's best to follow the guidelines listed from your Master gardner in your area for best of application.

    Q
What pre-emergent do you recommend to control crabgrass on St. Augustine?
Moved into a new house and the lawn has quite a bit of crabgrass.
    A

For long term control though, you should apply a pre-emergent in the late fall and early spring which will prevent new crabgrass from coming up next year.  If you apply pre-emergent every year, you should not have issues with crabgrass long term.  Dimension 2EW is one of our most popular pre-emergents for crabgrass.

  • Asked by Donya from Sherwood, Ar

    Q
What do I need to get stickers out of my grass?
I have been told there is something I can spray on my yard to get the stickers out of my yard. I was told it needed to be sprayed on my yard in Sept. and no later than Oct. can you tell me what it is.
    A

Pre-emeregent application of Dimension 2EW or Pendulum 2G will kill sandburs. The treated area should not be disturbed during this period and should be watered in thoroughly for best results. As always, read and follow label directions carefully. Also remember that it may take a couple of years to eliminate all the burs hiding in your lawn. We recommend that you contact your local cooperative extension office and speak to the master gardener on staff as he/she may be able to tell you what has worked best in your region and also the exact time to apply the products for the best result in your region.

Depending on what type of lawn you have, Hi Yield 2, 4-D will treat sticker bur actively growing. We recommend also to make sure there is an adequate amount of water being applied to your turf as sometimes lack of water can cause sticker bur.

  • Asked by Larry from Emporia, Kansas
    09/25/2016
    Q
What is the recommended amount of Dimension 2EW Herbicide that should be used per gallon of water?
The reason I ask is I use a tank sprayer and don't know the amount of water it deliver. I normally spray 15000 sq. ft. at a time. Knowing the quantity of herbicide needed per gallon would allow me to apply the recommended amount of herbicide to each of my pre-established areas too be treated.
    A

You will use .33 - .73 of an ounce of Dimension 2EW per 1,000 sq ft. (normally 1 gallon water)  The exact usage rate will depend on your location and the application program you choose. Please refer to pages 4-6 of the Dimension 2EW Herbicide Label to find the exact usage rate for your needs.

  • Asked by Rich from Matawan, Nj

    Q
Is my understanding correct that I can spray my boxwoods and pygmy barberry with Dimension 2EW?
I have crabgrass growing in the barberry. Can't reach in to pull it, thorns, OUCH!
    A

Yes, Dimension 2EW Herbicide can be sprayed directly on the crabgrass that is growing in and around the pygmy barberry and boxwoods. This product should not be sprayed over the top of these ornamentals. Keep in mind that Dimension is a pre-emergent herbicide and will only control newly emerged crabgrass up to the 4-tiller stage.

    Q
I am looking for a pre emergent with a broad label for broad leaf and crabgrass weeds in St. Augustine grass.
I am in central Florida and will be applying before Feb. 15th. I have had a couple of bad years chasing broad leaf weeds with different post emergent products.
    A

Dimension 2EW is one of our most popular pre-emergents for crabgrass as well as many other broadleaf weeds, and it can safely be used on St. Augustine grass.  Please check the product label to ensure that it will control the other weeds that you are targeting.

  • Asked by Mark from Forney, Tx
    01/10/2017
    Q
Should I make a Dimension 2EW and Roundup application?
In North Texas I usually spray my 1 acre Bermuda lawn in mid March with Roundup to kill any remaining weeds before the bermuda starts to grow again. This year I'd like to mix Dimension 2EW and PERMACAP CS in with the Roundup and spray simultaneously. Will that be a problem?
    A

No, Dimension  2EW can be tank mixed with a variety of other herbicides and fertilizers. It is always recommended to do a test mix first to make sure whatever product you are wanting to use with the Dimension blends easily and does not cause clumping or any reaction that would cause your equipment to clog. Keep in mind the RoundUP is a non-selective herbicide, so it will kill any plants that you spray with it. If you are planning on doing a lawn renovation such as reseeding, you will need to wait a full season after applying Dimension before you can reseed the lawn.

  • Asked by Kevin from San Antonio, Tx

    Q
Will the application of Dimension 2EW affect bluebonnets?
We live in central Texas and have an area in the yard that produces bluebonnets each spring that my wife loves. If I treat that area with Dimension, will that affect the bluebonnet patch, or should I avoid that area?
    A

As long as the bluebonnets are not growing from seed or transplanting, an application of Dimension 2EW Herbicide in the area should not effect them since it is labeled to be used around landscape ornamentals.

  • Asked by Delman from Ararat, Va
    01/27/2017
    Q
i have a 25 gallon boom sprayer. How much Dimension 2EW Herbicide do I need to put in it?
    A

How much of an herbicide such as Dimension 2EW that you need to dilute will depend on the size of the area you need to treat, the type of turfgrass (variety and area) you are treating, and which program from the product label you are using. If you are able to supply this information, then we would be happy to give you more detailed instructions. Keep in mind that your water is just a carrier of your herbicide; it is most important to use the correct amount of product applied evenly over the area.

  • Asked by Dennis from Glenwood, Ia
    01/31/2017
    Q
I am trying to control crabgrass in Iowa. What should the ground temp be in spring to apply Dimension 2W?
    A

Crabgrass seeds begin to germinate when soil temperatures reach 55 to 60 F and continue to germinate over several weeks from spring into summer. Pre-emergent herbicides such as Dimension 2EW normally should be applied in early to mid-April in southern Iowa, mid-April to May 1 in central Iowa and late April to early May in the northern portion of the state.  Pre-emergent herbicides should be applied when the forsythia blossoms start dropping or when redbud trees begin to bloom.  I found a great article here by Iowa State that further explains.

  • Asked by Fred from Philadelphia, Pa
    03/09/2017
    Q
Can you please recommend both a pre- and post-emergent liquid herbicide for a residential lawn in Philadelphia?
Residential lawn in suburban Philadelphia. Tall fesue, 35,000 square feet, half with irrigation. Application via Jacto backback sprayer holding four gallons. I have half a gallon of Non-Ionoc surfactant. Looking for two products, please: 1. Liquid pre-emergent applied early spring that controls both broadleaf and grassy weeds. 2. Liquid post-emergent for spot treatment that controls both broadleaf and grassy weeds. Thank you. Fred
    A

Dimension 2EW provides pre-emergence and early post-emergence control of crabgrass, and season-long control of crabgrass, goosegrass, foxtail, spurge and many other grassy and broadleaf weeds.

SpeedZone is an excellent selective post-emergent herbicide for common and troublesome weeds in turfgrass such as spurge, pennywort, dandelion, white clover, and many others. Evidence of injury can be seen within hours of application, and weeds will die in as little as 7 to 14 days.

Is Dimension 2EW safe to use around bee hives? My hive is about 20-25 ft away from my grass, where it will be used.
    A

Dimension 2EW Herbicide should be safe when used as directed.   That being said, we are not aware that it has been tested around bee hives and cannot guarantee it would not harm them.  We would recommend checking with DOW directly for advice.  They can be reached at 800-992-5994
