    Q
Does Dimension pre-emergent control spotted spurge?
    A

Dimension 2EW Herbicide is a pre-emergent herbicide that is labeled for spotted spurge. It will prevent the weed from germinating. If the weed is actively growing, we suggest selective post-emergent control. If you need a recommendation, please provide your desired turf species and size area. Thank you!

    Q
What would be the best pre-emergent to use on field sandbur and burr clover?
We live in Hood County, TX and have sandy soil. Our yard has poor coverage of bermuda grass and we are overrun by Field Sandbur (grassbur, sandspur) and also either Burr Medic or Burr Clover. What would be the best pre-emergent to use on these plants?
    A

We would recommend Dimension 2EW for pre-emergent control but also consulting with your local extension office in your county for advisement on a fertilizer and weed control program.

Fertilome Weed Free Zone is a great post emergent broadleaf herbicide that is labeled for oxalis, black medic, burclover, and dozens of other broad weeds.

    Q
Which is best for crabgrass, Dithiopyr, Benefin, or Trifluralin?
    A

Dithiopyr products like Dimension are the best pre-emergent herbicides for crabgrass and have early post-emergent control on it, as well. Be sure that you are using a product that is safe for use in the area where you plan to apply it.

  • Asked by Jeremy from Fresno, Ca
    02/08/2018
    Q
Can I mix Dimension 2EW Herbicide with RoundUp and spray plant beds that are not wanted?
    A

Yes,  if you are spraying a bare ground area or and area where no desirable vegetation is currently present you can apply Dimension 2EW and RoundUp. Dimension 2EW Herbicide can be tank mixed with a variety of other herbicides and fertilizers. It is always recommended to do a test mix first to make sure whatever product you are wanting to use with the Dimension blends easily and does not cause clumping or any reaction that would cause your equipment to clog. Please read each label for complete mixing and application instructions.

  • Asked by David from Phoenix, Arizona
    02/12/2018
    Q
How much Dimension 2EW should I use in my 1-gallon container to cover a 220 square foot area?
To provide some background, I live in Phoenix, Arizona and have crushed granite gravel as a ground cover in both front and back yards. I have a 1-gallon battery operated sprayer. I performed a test with water to determine the area the 1-gallon sprayer will dispense. I was only able to cover a 10 x 22 area or 220 square feet before the water ran out. With that said, how much Dimension product should I use per 1-gallon? If my calculations are correct, I should be using .08 to .1 ounce of product. Also, what, if any, is the harm if I used more than the recommended amount?
    A

In Arizona, you would generally make two applications of Dimension 2EW Herbicide 5 to 10 weeks apart. We would recommend the Program 2 or 3 rates of 1 oz per 1,000 sq ft and then 1.5 oz per 1,000 sq ft, or 2 applications of 1 oz per 1,000 sq ft each, according to the product label. Be sure that you immediately water-in the application with a high volume of water any time there is a barrier like gravel over the ground. This will help get more of the active ingredient down to the soil so that it is not just absorbed into the rocks before it can reach the dirt. (Since this product is still intended to be used around turfgrass and ornamentals, you may not get the same results on a stone area.) At the 1 oz,1000 sq ft rate, you would use 0.22 oz of Dimension 2EW in 1 gallon in your sprayer to cover 220 sq ft.

  • Asked by Roger from Ada, Ok
    02/14/2018
    Q
Can I use thinned-down water based paint to mix with Dimension 2EW as a marker so I can keep track of where I have sprayed?
    A

We do not recommend mixing any type of paint with Dimension 2EW Herbicide.  We do sell several varieties of spray indicators which are safe to use with herbicides, fungicides, or insecticides on your turf.  Our most popular choice is Turf Mark Blue.

  • Asked by Jeremy from Clovis, Ca
    02/18/2018
    Q
Can I apply Dimension 2EW more than once before summer?
We've had abnormally warm days this winter and I'd like to apply it soon as the soil temperatures are getting close to 50. We're expecting some cold weeks and our lawn guy will be aerating the lawn in April. I'd like to apply it again in April after the aeration. Will it damage my lawn?
    A

Dimension 2EW Herbicide can be applied as a single application, a split application or a sequential application in the spring, summer or fall.  Please refer to the product label for timing between applications and rates to use depending on the program you wish to follow.

  • Asked by Shea from Weatherford, Tx
    02/18/2018
    Q
When can I plant grass or lay sod after my second application of Dimension 2EW?
So our new backyard is a mess, dirt and weeds. So I plan to do the first application first of March. Then I understand to do the second application by mid-June. Grass burrs are bad as well as the rest but more so the grass burrs. Do I need to wait another three months to lay Bermuda or St. Augustine sod or Bermuda seed? Thank you!
    A

According to the Dimension 2EW Herbicide product label, new sod/seed should not be applied for at least 3 months. Once the sod/seed has been put down, it needs to be established for at least 6 months before applying Dimension 2EW Herbicide again.

  • Asked by James from Indian Trail, Nc
    03/23/2018
    Q
How many weeks apart can I re-apply Dimension 2EW Herbicide?
Should I do Tenacity now? I applied Dimension 3 weeks ago and its working, getting warm here though and worried crabgrass will get started again. I got a few other weeds. Can I use Tenacity and Dimension 2EW now together at the same time?
    A

Whether and when you reapply Dimension will depend some on what rate you used when you first applied it. It is possible to do a split application of Dimension, which is usually done with the applications 6-8 weeks apart in Spring. Just be sure that you are not exceeding the maximum application and/or annual label rates for your area and type of turf grass. The rate you used will also affect how long the product lasts in the soil. You can use Tenacity after using Dimension since it is a different active ingredient. Be sure you are always following the label rates for your turfgrass and following any other label precautions. Please let us know if you have other questions.

  • Asked by Gary from Wabash, Indiana
    04/17/2018
    Q
How soon can I apply Dimension Herbicide?
    A

Dimension is best applied just before temperatures are suitable for weed seed germination. For crabgrass, this is when soil temperatures are about 55 degrees F. You will need to check your local weather forecast for a time when you will have several warm days in a row so that you can apply before that time for best results. You can usually check local soil temperatures online, too. You should not apply Dimension or other pre-emergents if the ground is frozen, if there is snow or ice on the ground, or if the ground is already saturated from rainfall.

  • Asked by John from Albany, Ny
    05/01/2018
    Q
Can I still dethatch after my lawn service applied Dimension before I could do it?
    A

It is always best to perform any type of maintenance such as dethatching before you put down a pre-emergent like Dimension so that you do not interrupt the barrier and, therefore, get inconsistent weed control. You could potentially dethatch with a hand rake after watering in the Dimension application with at least 1/2 inch of water. Allow that watering to dry completely before dethatching.
