    Q
When applying DiPel DF to the lawn, should the grass be dry? When is the best time to spray?
    A

DiPel PRO DF Biological Insecticide is best applied when the lawn is dry.  Be aware it is only labeled to treat sod webworms in turf.   Spot treatments may be applied when infestations are first detected and the damaged area is small. The treatment will be most effective if applied in the early evening when larvae begin feeding.

    Q
Will DiPel Pro DF kill grubs in soil?
I am trying to get rid of moles by killing the grubs.
    A

DiPel PRO DF Biological Insecticide is not labeled for grub control but we do offer products that are effective. Please take a few moments to review our article on How to Get Rid of Grubs for the best results. Aside from grubs, Moles' primary food source is earthworms, which are going to be impossible (and unecessary) to eliminate. Our most popular treatment product for moles is Talpirid Mole Bait. Please see our Mole Treatment Guide for more details and tips.

  • Asked by Terry from Lubbock Tx

    Q
Will DiPel PRO DF Biological Insecticide control ants in the ground if applied before planting my garden?
I have a lot of little black ants, tiny but not fire ants, last year they ate up and damaged lots of my vegetables and I'm wanting to treat them before they damage anything this year?
    A

DiPel PRO DF Biological Insecticide is not labeled for control of ants or for spraying on the ground, so we do not recommend that application. You could use a contact spray such as Fertilome Triple Action as needed and up to day of harvest. Depending on the plants you have, you may also consider a synthetic product labeled for use on edibles, such as Sevin Insecticide Concentrate.

  • Asked by Linda from Berkeley, Ca
    05/31/2021
    Q
    Applying DiPel
Can other products be added to DiPel such as Harpin Protein? How often should DiPel be applied to vegetable and flower gardens? Should DiPel be applied to leaves, stems & surrounding soil. Is a light spray sufficient?
    A
Per the product label, you could potentially mix DiPel PRO DF Biological Insecticide with other products; however, you would need to do a small tank mix for compatibility first. You also need to use the most restrictive labeling of any products that you are mixing.

Applications can be repeated at 3-14 day intervals depending on the target pest and conditions such as plant growth rate and rainfall. Thorough coverage is needed for sufficient control since the target pests must consume the deposits of DiPel to be affected. Please refer to the product label for complete application instructions.

  • Asked by Wallace from Eau Claire , Wisconsin
    05/10/2015
    Q
I have a 2 gallon sprayer. How much Di Pel Pro DF do I use on a Jack pine budworm problem?
    A
You should use 0.5 to 2 lbs of DiPel Pro per acre, depending on what plants you are treating. This would equal up to about 3/4 oz. per 1,000 square feet in sufficient water to cover area. If you do not require an organic certified product, and you only have a small area to treat, Hi-Yield Thuricide Concentrate is a liquid intended for smaller areas that may be more appropriate for your application.

  • Asked by Jade from Anahola, Hi

    Q
Can DiPel PRO DF be used in an aquaponics set up?
Is it safe for fish? If so, is spraying it on the foliage still the best method for applying it?
    A

Since the product label for DiPel Pro DF Insecticide does not state that it is safe for aquaponics or for use around aquatic areas, we would not recommend this type of application.  You may want to reach out to Valent, the manufacturer, directly: you can reach them on their website here.

  • Asked by Linda from Corsicana, Tx
    07/06/2019
    Q
Can DiPel Pro be applied using a hose end sprayer?
We have two large pine-type trees which are 25 to 30 ft. tall. One of them is infested with bagworms; the other also has a few. We are hoping we could use this product with a hose end sprayer in order to reach the higher limbs. Does this sound like it is do-able?
    A

No, Dipel Pro is not a liquid product and would not be suitable for most hose end sprayers. There are a few hose end sprayers that can accept granules or dry flowables but they are no very accurate. Instead we recommend you use a pressurized sprayer or a product such as the Chapin Slide Pump Sprayer to spray the branches that are higher up.

  • Asked by Joshua from Maiden, Nc
    05/21/2018
    Q
Could one bag of DiPel PRO DF Biological Insecticide cover ~47,000 ft^2 (~1.08 acres)?
I have a few large yards and june bugs come out in droves every year. Not only that, but they attack the ripe apples growing on the apple trees. How many bags would be needed to cover this amount of area? If the answer is "a lot," then is there another product that would offer more bang for the buck for someone with that much land to cover?
    A

DiPel Pro DF will not control june bugs or other beetles or weevils. Essentria All Purpose is a natural insecticide spray which you can use for these and other insects on your fruit trees.
