    Q
What does it mean that it will only suppress weeds such as Dallisgrass?
Basically no kill? I would like to use it on St Augustine grass. If it does not kill what do you recommend for a kill of Dallisgrass on St Augustine? TY
    A

When an herbicide lists that it will "suppress" a weed rather than "control" it, it just means that the research provided from testing did not kill a high enough percentage of the weed in one application to receive a "control" approval, which is usually higher than at least 80 percent. So usually it means you need multiple applications and/or other cultural or chemical treatments to completely eradicate the weed. Dallisgrass is a weed that is notoriously difficult to eradicate quickly once it is established. Dismiss NXT would be a good choice for post-emergent. You can also use Dimension 2EW as a pre-emergent for dallisgrass.

    Q
What is the difference between regular Dismiss, Dismiss NXT and Dismiss South?
I live near the Houston, TX area where temps quite high for much of the year. I have a Sedge/Kylinga issue at the moment along with some other minor weeds areas. My lawn is St. Augustine and is doing very well so I'm confident my lawn is capable of handling the stress.
    A

Dismiss, Dismiss NXT and Dismiss South all have different amounts of active ingredient.  Dismiss South or Dismiss NXT would be options for St Augustine.

  • Asked by William from Plantation, Fl
    07/11/2018
    Q
When can you do a second application of Dismiss NXT Herbicide?
Couldn't find that on the label. Thanks.
    A

There are no restrictions on the Dismiss NXT Herbicide product label for when you can make your second application. Dismiss NXT should control sedges for 60 days, so keep that in mind when planning your treatments. We generally recommend waiting at least 2 weeks between applications for the treated plants to die before making another assessment. Be sure to review the label for timing if you plan on putting down any new sod or seed.
