Spot treatments are defined as 1,000 sq ft areas. If one gallon of water will cover a 1,000 sq ft section, then you would use the mix rate for Dismiss NXT Herbicide according to your turfgrass type listed in the Mix Rate Table on page 3 of the product label.
The application rates range from 0.117 to 0.350 fl oz per 1,000 sq ft depending on your turfgrass type.
No, Dismiss NXT Herbicide is no longer labeled to control or suppress torpedograss. The label was recently updated with some new information. Instead, we would suggest carefully spot treating the torpedograss with a non selective herbicide such as Roundup QuickPro. You may reseed/resod areas as necessary after 2 weeks.
When it comes to Dismiss NXT Herbicide, the rate will depend on your type of turfgrass (cool or warm season). For a cool-season lawn, you will mix at 0.117 - 0.234 per 1 gallon, or 1.638 to 3.276 oz per 14 gallons of water. For a warm-season lawn, you will mix at 0.234 - 0.350, or 3.276 to 4.9 oz to 14 gallons of water.
If using 5 fl oz with 14 gallons of water, that sounds like you mixed at a high rate for a warm-season lawn. With cooler temperatures, it can take longer for the herbicide to translocate throughout the weed it could just be more time is needed for the application to work its way down to the roots.
Other factors could be where the bottle was stored after opening. Was it exposed to extreme heat or freezing temperatures or stored in a cool dry environment? If concentrates are exposed to extremely high or freezing temperatures, this can affect or reduce the efficacy of the application.
Dismiss NXT Herbicide can be applied in temperatures of 65-85 degrees while weeds are actively growing. Please view the full product label for more information.
There are no restrictions on the Dismiss NXT Herbicide product label for when you can make your second application. Dismiss NXT should control sedges for 60 days, so keep that in mind when planning your treatments. We generally recommend waiting at least 2 weeks between applications for the treated plants to die before making another assessment. Be sure to review the label for timing if you plan on putting down any new sod or seed.
Dismiss NXT Herbicide is not labeled to control dallisgrass.
Please review our Dallisgrass Treatment Guide for more information and product recommendations.
Yes, there are no time restrictions between applying a pre-emergent and post emergent such as Dismiss NXT Herbicide if you need to treat for actively growing weeds.
They can be used around the same time as directed on their respective labels.
Dismiss NXT Herbicide can safely be used on Bermuda and it is labeled to suppress dalliasgrass. When an herbicide lists that it will "suppress" a weed rather than "control" it, it just means that the research provided from testing did not kill a high enough percentage of the weed in one application to receive a "control" approval, which is usually higher than at least 80 percent. So usually it means you need multiple applications and/or other cultural or chemical treatments to completely eradicate the weed. Dallisgrass is a weed that is notoriously difficult to eradicate quickly once it is established. You can also use Dimension 2EW as a pre-emergent for dallisgrass. Apply at the rate of 0.234 – 0.350 fl oz./1,000 sq. ft. in however much water it takes you to cover the area. You may need to retreat 4 weeks after the first treatment.
Dismiss NXT Herbicide and Celsius WG can be tank mixed together and be used on St. Augustine (Floratam) provided the tank mixing procedures are followed per the product labels.
The Dismiss NXT Herbicide product label does advise that temporary discoloration to exposed leaf surfaces can happen on turfgrasses such as St. Augustine and certain cultivars of zoysiagrass, bahiagrass. Treated turfgrass will recover with new growth. Discolored leaf tissue will be removed with mowing.
Dismiss NXT Herbicide is not labeled for crabgrass. We carry crabgrass products here.
