Is answer to question by Michael on 04/08/2010 obsolete, and traps can be baited initially, without monitoring bait?
The Trelona ATBS Direct Bait System is a newer system that comes with a bait cartridge in each station. Baits will last for up to 90 days if termites are actively feeding on them, but they should be replaced when the bait cartridge is 3/4 empty or after one year, whichever is sooner. In this system, you are only using the wood monitoring base and the bait cartridge in each station. You could choose to use the Inspection Cartridges later if no activity is observed on any of the bait cartridges.
