My apartment was fogged with PT 565 Plus XLO for fungus gnats. Upon returning home after 4 hours, I found thick layer of oil all over the hardwood floors, countertops, furniture, etc. The floors were so slippery. Orkin claimed that they used the same product for previous 5-6 foggings in the last two years but I never had such thick layer of oil before. Does PT565 Plus XLO spray leave thick layer of oil? What is the source of this oil in this product? Is it an oil based pesticide?
PT 565 PLUS XLO Pressurized Contact Insecticide should only be applied as a direct spray or void treatment in infested areas. This product would not be advised to use as “fogging” treatment for entire rooms or spaces.
Fogging concentrates/products in general are oil based chemicals so it is very common that an oily residue is left behind if fogging large spaces. On page 3 of the 565 Plus XLO SDS Sheet is where the manufacturer discusses the break down of chemicals and the petroleum distillates listed.
For Fungus Gnats, fogging would not be an effective treatment method as this will not treat the source of where fungus gnats are originating. Fungus Gnats indoors is typically an indication of overwatered/saturated soils in house plants, leaking pipes or condensation under sinks or appliances.
