    Will a soil drench of Dominion on a flowering plant like hibiscus affect pollinators such as hummingbirds?
    I have hibiscus trees that are often affected by whiteflies. Dominion can be used as a drench but I'm concerned about its potential affect on pollinators such as hummingbirds which frequent my garden. Can you please comment on this?

    A systemic application of the Dominion 2L would not harm the bees or birds as it would only be absorbed by the types of insects that actually feed on the tree down past a certain level of the trees outer layers.

    If I treat azaleas in July with Dominion 2L will it enter flower nectar of azaleas when they bloom next spring?
    I have 20 azaleas that are totally infested with mites, scale insects, and white flies. The leaves are covered in honeydew and sooty residue. If I spray and cover the tops and bottoms of leaves will this be better than a soil drench on these heavily infested shrubs? Will pollinators be harmed next spring feeding on the nectar from the flowers of the azaleas?

    The life of Dominion 2L Termiticide when drenched is about 12 months. If you spray the life of it on the leaves isn’t as long. It would be dissipated by the spring of the following year.

    Because this is systemic, if I spray the trunks of my pine trees, will it absorb into the tree to kill borers?
    I have literally hundreds of young ponderosa trees 2-10 years old, that have borers already in the trunks. Because of the number of trees affected, soil drench is nearly impossible... I would like to know if spraying a concentrated solution of this chemical on the trunks would be effective in killing these pests?

    When using Dominion 2L Termiticide for borers, it is labeled to be applied as a soil injection which includes grid systems, circle systems, basal systems, and soil drench applications. This product cannot be injected into a tree for borers. Also, please keep in mind injecting product into a tree directly needs to be done by a trained specialist with the right equipment, otherwise more damage could be done to the tree. However, unfortunately there is no easy solution when it comes to pine beetles/borers. Infected trees should be cut down (before the newly hatched beetles fly out of the trees in the spring/summer) and the wood burned or chipped, while other still healthy trees should be sprayed annually to protect them. Because of the natural boring behavior of the beetle they are protected from topically applied insecticides and systemic insecticides (those injected into the tree or applied as a root drench) have proven ineffective for pine beetle infestations. Healthy trees can be protected before the beetles attack by topically spraying them with a product like Permethrin SFR 36.8% or Bifen XTS. The tree should be sprayed from the ground to 15 ft up the trunk to prevent future infestations. You should contact your local cooperative extension office to find out the best time to start spraying in your region.

    Is this product safe for trees?
    Can it be used to kill subterranean around pine trees?

    Yes, Dominion 2L is a great choice for subterranean termites and has a reduced risk when used as directed on the product label. When using Dominion 2L for a soil drench you typically start drenching about 12 inches from the base of the tree and out to the drip line.

    What's a lineal foot?
    Do they mean cubic?

    Speaking logistically, a linear foot is 12 inches and is the unit of measurement used to account for the amount of space the freight occupies in one dimension, length. Cubic feet, on the other hand, account for the amount of space the freight takes up over three dimensions: length, height, and width.
     
    Linear footage = (Square Footage x 12) / Width
     
    Each 27.5 oz of Dominion 2L Termiticide will make 50 gallons of finished solution which will treat 120 lineal feet

    Is Dominion 2L also good for Snout nose weevils in agaves?

    While imidacloprid products like Dominion 2L Termiticide have been recommended, they are not specifically labeled for Agave Weevils. Please contact your Cooperative Extension Office for further information on treatment.

    It should work on spider mites on plants right?
    Being that this product is also a "systemic", shouldn't it kill spider mites when they drink from the olants chlorophyll??

    Dominiom 2L is not effective on spider mites as it is not labeled for mites. We recommend checking out Talstar P Professional for optimal control of spider mites. The addition of a surfactant or horticultural oil may increase the effectiveness of Talstar as well.

    What is the recommended ratio of Dominion to water for termites (slab in place)?
    The above answers do not give me recommended mixing information.

    You can do the soil drench treatment by digging a 6x6 inch trench around the foundation and pouring 2.4 fl oz of Dominion 2L into 4 gallons of water per 10 feet. With the sides of the house with the slope make sure you are doing a backfill method. With the backfill method, you want to treat the soil that was removed when digging the trench before placing it back into the trench.     Mock Maple & Boxelder bugs
    I have an old mock maple that's about 15' around the trunk & millions of Boxelder bugs!! I was told the best stuff to get rid of the box elders is Dominion 2L. I try to remove all the seed Whirlygigs but they are still everywhere. What time of year is best for the drench method for systemic on this giant tree? And is it good to surface spray and also spray when uncovering nests?

    The Dominion 2L is not labeled to treat for Boxelder bugs and we would not recommend using it for this pest. We have put together an Overwintering kit that is just for boxelder bugs.  This kit includes Temprid FX Insecticide, Eco PCO dust and a hand duster for easy application.     Japanese beetles are ruining my roses and hibiscus. Can this be used to treat them?
    How much to be diluted in water, and spray directly on foliage? When is best time to treat for them? Where are you located?

    For foliar applications, Dominion 2L Termiticide is mixed at 0.5 to 2 gallons of water. You will spray until wet but not dripping. The product label states that you should apply at the onset of high population so you are a little late but you will still get some control. We are located in GA.

    What happens if misread 0.6 ounces and put in 6 ounces per gallon?
    I misread and used about 20 times more product than what is required per gallon. Is it harmful for animals? Is the amount used bad for trees? Suggestion based on font size on labels, possibly put it in teaspoons as well.

    On a 6-foot fica hedge about 90 feet long, how much Dominion 2l do I apply?
    I have a 90-foot-long by 6-foot-high fica hedge that has thrips. At a rate of 0.1 to 0.2 per gallon, how much do I use per tree? I am using a 2-gallon sprayer mix with 0.2 per gallon. It's a soil drench I am not sure I applied enough to the soil. In total, I applied about 6 gallons on the hedge. Then use a hose to add water so it goes to the roots

    The water amount you mix the Dominion with is merely the carrier to get it where you need it- in the root zone underground.

    You should measure the height of the shrub (the length is not calculated) which for you is 6 feet. The mix rate is 0.1 fl oz to 0.2 fl oz of Dominion 2L Termiticide Concentrate per foot of shrub height as a drench around the base of the shrubs/bushes in no less than 10 gallons of water per 1,000 square feet. Direct application to the root area is best.

    How do I use this product to eliminate pavement ants? I sprayed my deck and perimeter of my house.
    Including door and window frames. Is there something more I should do or do I just wait, as I still see ants?

    I have some trees that have Carpenter Ant infestation and wondering if this can be used systemically.

    Dominion 2L Termiticide should be sprayed topically for ants. A drench would not be a beneficial treatment for ants.

    How do I apply it as a drench for trees that are close to one another
    Some of my trees are only seven or so feet apart

    Dominion 2L Termiticide is applied at 0.1 to 0.2 fl oz per inch of trunk diameter for trees at the base of the tree inside the drip line.  Apply uniformly around the base of the tree in no less than 10 gallons of water per 1000 square feet. Direct application to the root area. Even if the trees are close, as long as you are applying the correct rate per the diameter of each tree, with enough water, that is what matters. Please read the product label for complete application instructions.
