Product Overview

Get rid of drain flies fast with Drain Gel drain fly treatment. Drain Gel is a concentrated biological product specifically designed to treat organic matter build-up in sinks, drains and garbage disposals where drain flies harbor and reproduce. Each quart treats approximately two drains.

Treating drain fly problems with ordinary drain cleaners, hot water, detergents, bleach, or ammonia is ineffective. The most effective solution is the use of a highly concentrated biological product with specially selected bacteria strains. Drain Gel’s new formula contains MGD (Microbial Grease Degrader), a unique Bacillus strain that breaks down complex grease molecules. American Bio-Systems Drain Gel is highly concentrated and can be used directly in drains or in non-drain areas such as sinks, drain grates, and floors.

How Drain Gel Works

DrainGel's formulation incorporates specialized microorganisms in combination with biological support ingredients and essential growth factors. This unique formulation promotes improved performance in degradation of organic materials. The unique bacillus bacteria strain MGD (Microbial Grease Degrader) immediately multiplies and starts digesting organic waste upon application, breaking down long chain fatty acids, the primary component of problem grease. Drain Gel controls foul odors by inhibiting the normal biological production of odor-causing compounds such as hydrogen sulfide and rancid fatty acids that result from septic or anaerobic environments.

Target Pests

Organic buildup in drains that is the breeding site for odors, drain flies and fruit flies

PESTS CONTROLLED WITH DRAIN GEL: Odors, surface and drain scum, organic buildup

Target Uses of Drain Gel

Drain Gel removes hard to reach organic matter from drains where drain flies breed. This specially formulated product is made to cling to the inside of drains and pipes so that it may continue working for several hours instead of just draining away like other products. Drain Gel will also get rid of rank odors from drains and improve flow in slow drains. Drain Gel is safe for all types of plumbing and is non-toxic, non-pathogenic and non-caustic so you can use it with peace of mind.

    Great results!

    By Carrie on 01/13/2007

Had fruit flies for 5 months that I could NOT get rid of. I used Drain Gel once and overnight the flies were gone, just like that. The directions on the bottle say to use up to two weeks for best results, and I probably should have kept using it for safe measure, but one night worth of this stuff in all our drains took care of the problem. I haven't seen a single fly for 3 months.

    Drain-gel: Worked for me

    By R on 05/02/2010

Had drain fly problem in my apartment for several months. Used sticky strips (collected lots of flies), used bleach in drains (had no effect) covered all drains when not in use, still had flies (no idea how they got past the covers). In desperation, decided to try this stuff. Put about one cup down kitchen and bathroom drains for two nights. No more flies. It's been almost two weeks now, still no flies.

    It worked but

    By Susan on 09/13/2008

I ordered the Drain Gel and used it in all my drains for 5 days, just like the directions say to do. They were completely gone until about 4 weeks later, the moth flies were back. I would look for something that gets rid of them and keeps them away for longer than 1 month.

    Expert ResponseExpert response:
In some environments such as restaurant kitchens where heavy and constant food prep is done, re-infestation may be inevitable. In these cases, the product label recommends to use 4 oz of drain gel every 2-3 weeks to maintain control.

    Drain gel works!!

    By John on 07/08/2012

    Verified Purchase

We had a real problem with drain flies at our home in Arkansas. It is our vacation home and it was a real chore to deal with these pests each time we arrived. I found Drain Gel online and gave it a try. It worked like magic and all the flies are gone. It is a relief to have a product on hand if the problem starts up in the future.

Q
Does Drain Gel have an expiration date?

I purchased 2 one gallon bottles of Drain Gel last year. I had half a bottle left over that I am using before I purchase a new bottle. It is not as thick as it was last year. Is it better to use fresh Drain Gel? Does it expire?

A

Drain Gel has a shelf life of several years when stored at room temperature out of direct heat or freezing temperatures.
