    Drione works!!

    By None on 07/23/2008

I spoke with Mike about a horrible problem I had. BEDBUGS! We got them on our travels from another state. Mike realized right away that I had a problem and the product arrived FAST! I rid my whole house of this menace in less than 2 weeks. Drione Dust is awesome. I have recommended this site to everyone who hate bugs as much as I do. Unfortunately, I pitched my 1920's wooden sleigh bed before I found this site. Drione works and kills within 24 hours.

    Incredibly effective!

    By Mark on 04/17/2007

Can't say enough good things about Drione Dust. It's been incredibly effective for me. I've cleaned out 3 or 4 yellow jacket nests with it. They were all within walls and cracks, so injecting it into the cracks at night was all it took -- just one application. I've also taken down large spiders with it, and just recently knocked out a nest of carpenter ants. I don't know how it works, but I don't care. Highly suggest purchasing the applicator/injector. Much easier to aim the stuff.

    Excellent

    By Tina on 08/14/2010

I live in an apartment and the management decided it was time to get the bed bugs treated. We were told the exterminators would come once a week for 3 weeks and after that we should have no more issues with bed bugs. After almost three weeks, we still saw no difference and were suffering from sleepless nights. A friend suggested Drione dust and I decided to give it a try since i was very disappointed with the on-going treatment. Drione dust proved to be magic and with just one treatment that I left on for 42 hours, I am happy to say 'Adios bed-bugs'. I strongly recommend this product for all those folks suffering. You'll need the Bellow hand duster with it as well.

    Works great

    By Kc on 07/28/2006

    Verified Purchase

I had a huge problem with boring bees (had already killed 27 with a squash racket). I applied the drione dust to one of the many holes in my log house and then I started finding dead boring bees around my house. Now after 2 months I have yet to see any new holes or bees. Thank You

    Great stuff!

    By Donna on 08/21/2006

This is the second time we have a had a hornets nest in the last two years. The first time we paid a "pro" to come and do the job for us, who had to come back a second time to reapply. This time we tackled the problem ourselves (along with DMOPC) and there was not a single hornet coming in or out the next morning, thanks to Drione Dust. Great great stuff at 1/2 the cost. Thanks!!

Q
How and where do you use this product for bed bugs?

Area or places in the bedroom such as mattress.

A

Drione Dust is only a commercial product. Per product label: Take bed apart. Dust into joints and channels. If hollow, such as square or round tubing, see that the interior of framework is well dusted. Mattresses should be dusted, especially tufts, folds, and edges. Picture frame moldings and all cracks and crevices in the room should be treated. Dusting around other places: For applications in non-food areas, apply a continuous visible film where insects hide: Underneath and behind stairs, refrigerators and appliances and on, around, and behind moldings, shelving, baseboards, pipe openings, cracks and crevices.

Q
Is it safe for pets?
A

Drione Dust is a very safe product and also very effective.  Like any product. you need to make sure you apply it as directed and read all instructions for it to work properly on insects and be safe for your family.  Drione Dust is meant to be applied in cracks and crevices, underneath appliances and inside wall voids.  If you apply it correctly and in these types of areas, it will not be accessible for your pets and children to come in contact with but it will be in the places that bugs like to hide.  You do not have to remove the pets and children while you are treating, but it would be a good idea to have them in a different room while you are applying the dust.  After 30 minutes have passed after you have applied the product, it is perfectly safe for them to be back in the room that you treated.

Q
Is Drione dust a repellent?

I know that Drione dust can kill roaches, as I have used it before for roaches. But I have heard it somewhere that Drione is a repellent, which is not advised to use against roaches, particularly German. Is this true?

A

Drione Dust will not repel roaches or other insects when applied as directed. Dust is one of many tools you can use to help control a roach infestation. However, if applied too heavily, then insects may avoid the treated areas. What an insecticide dust like Drione Dust will not do is spread from one roach to another, like you would get from a roach bait gel or a non-repellent spray such as Phantom II Aerosol.

Q
What's the best way to store Drione Dust in a vehicle when the temperatures are so hot?
A

Drione Dust should not be stored in a vehicle for long periods of time.  You should keep the lid on at all times and keep it away from moisture and high temperatures (below 90) preferably in a cool dry place.

Q
How do I apply Drione Dust behind shutters?
A

If you are looking to get behind shutters and deck boards and plan to use the Drione Dust, then you want to go with the B&G M1150 Bulb Duster.  Though dusts work best in cracks and crevices, holes where you see insects coming and going etc and not in areas where there is not a surface for it to settle on.  Typically spraying around and behind shutters where you can reach would be best for most pests.  Cyzmic CS is a great option to use.  We also have a great general pest prevention guide that can help in the long run as well.

Q
Will Drione Dust kill carpet beetles?

Many Carpet Beetles in my home.

A

Drione Dust  is not labeled for carpet beetles. For indoor carpet beetle control you may want to consider a product such as Nyguard Plus. This product contains an insecticide to kill the roaming adults and an insect growth regulator to stop the harder to kill immature beetles from reaching a reproductive state which in turn will break the cycle of infestation. As an added bonus this product also contains a deodorizer for carpet applications. Please take a few minutes to read our How to Control Carpet Beetles article for an in depth explanation of how to control this pest.

Q
Was Drione Dust reformulated?

It use to work well as a fine dust before it was in short supply. Now since we restocked it, its consistency is more like sand and doesn't puff well into voids. It even sounds gritty when used with a metal extension. What's the deal?

A

The formulation of Drione Dust has not changed. There was a pyrethrins shortage several years ago which caused Drione Dust to be hard to find for some time, but there have not been any stocking issues for awhile. It is important to store Drione Dust in a dry area with low humidity and to keep the top securely closed. If the dust gets damp or is stored in a humid area, then the dust could clump up and be more difficult to apply. If you have purchased from us and believe there is an issue with product you received, please contact us and have the manufacturer's lot stamp handy for us to reference.
