Drive XLR8 Herbicide Crabgrass Killer is taken up through the leaf of the plant and translocated to the root. It is a post-emergent herbicide only.
Drive XLR8 is a post-emergent herbicide only. So while it will kill existing plants, it does not prevent new seeds from germinating. We recommend using a pre-emergent such as Dimension 2EW in the spring before soil temps reach 55 degrees to prevent new crabgrass from growing next year.
Drive XLR8 is a post-emergent herbicide that takes about 10-14 days to start seeing results on the target plants. Keep in mind that this is best used on listed weeds when they are young and actively growing, which will usually be in spring and fall.
Drive XLR8 Herbicide Crabgrass Killer is not specifically labeled for spurge. We do offer pre and post emergent herbicides that are labeled for spurge that will be effective. Please provide more information on the treatment area and desired turf for a product recommendation. Thank you!
Drive XLR8 is a great post emergent product to treat all of the weeds you listed. Please check the product label to ensure your turf will tolerate Drive XLR8.Yes, we do have these products in stock. You can always contact us at 866-581-7378 as well.
Normally we suggest giving the product 3 weeks to see results using Drive XLR8 or any selective herbicide. Depending on if you are spot treating or broadcasting the solution determines the mix rate.
Spot Treatment: For a 2 gallon sparyer, Mix 6 tbsp + 3 tbsp of Adjuvent. Apply at the rate of 1 gallon per 1000 sq ft. (1 tablespoon = 0.5 fl oz (0.25 lb ae/A)
Broadcast Application: 1.45 fl ozs per 1000 sq ft / Methylated seed oil at 0.55 fl oz per 1000 sq ft (0.75 lb ae/A)
.
Since Drive XLR8 Herbicide is a post-emergent herbicide, we want to make sure that we get good coverage of the target plants, and that the application has time to dry before rainfall or before the lawn is watered. Drive should not be watered-in upon application since we want it to stay on the surface of the target plants. Be sure you are using an appropriate surfactant when using Drive, such as Prime Source Duo Stick. You should allow 10-14 days to start seeing results from post-emergent herbicides.
Unfortunately their is not a selective product that will remove crabgrass from St. Augustine. St. Augustine is a very fragile grass, and so most selective products that are labeled to remove crabgrass and not your real grass, will hurt the St. Augustine. It is recommended to kill the crabgrass with a round up type product, like Ranger Pro, which will also kill just the St. Augustine around the crabgrass that it is sprayed on, and then a couple weeks later re-seed those areas with new St. Augustine.
For long term control though, you should apply a pre-emergent in the late fall and early spring which will prevent new crabgrass from coming up next year. If you apply pre-emergent every year, you should not have issues with crabgrass long term. Dimension 2EW is one of our most popular pre-emergents for crabgrass.
