Raccoon problem
By Robert on 02/25/2016
I received the large raccoon trap and I set it up in the attic. It was very simple to set and I was sure it would work. I also set up a game camera I had to record what happened. I heard the trap set and I went up into the attic a few minutes later. The trap was sprung but no raccoon. The door was completely closed. I grabbed the camera and reviewed the pictures. It only takes a picture every few seconds or so. It recorded one in the cage and a second one, that I did not know about, outside the cage. 45 pics later the raccoon was in the cage, the door was closed fully, and the next pic it was outside the cage. The camera did not get the actual escape. For the life of me I do not know how a full grown raccoon could have escaped from that cage. They have not tried again since but I will keep at it.

Raccoon Trap
By Wayne on 07/27/2017
I bought the large trap because my old trap seemed to be too small for raccoons up to 22lbs. [I weighed one].This one is plenty large and heavy and functions well. It does seem to be rusting quickly [not galvanized]. I was careless with the large bar gaps on the door and was rewarded with a bitten finger. 1/2" mesh everywhere would protect careless people like me.

Needs reinforcing around bait door.

Did he escape, poor design?
By Rodger on 09/28/2018
There is nothing to keep the bait door shut and I think somehow the fox got out thru it. I think some update to the design of this trap is necessary. They forgot to put a lock or clamp on the hinged door. There was hair on it after bait gone and door shut .. It may have been a rat but all the fish was gone. ??? Still this design seems very deficient.

Large Fox and Raccoon trap
By Barndt on 07/24/2020
Trap is strongly built with heavy wire. Door is made of bars with rings that slide down to prevent an animal from raising door. The rings make it difficult to set trap because you have to raise both rings to raise door. Dangerous if you have a Coon in there because you are putting your hands close to animal if you want to release it. Small trap door to add bait at back of trap has no latch. Trigger rod has only one notch so you can't adjust sensitivity. Trigger foot platform is made of wire and many animals won't step on it. This trap is not worth what I paid for it. I would not buy another one made like this.

Self releasing trap

Larger than expected
By Charles on 09/11/2020
This trap is much larger than the first Dukes raccoon trap I had. Also, something keeps tripping the the trap and stealing the bait...? I'm gonna put a camera on it this week. But all in all, a very sturdy and well-made trap.
