I need to add a 'ionic surfactant' to my nutsedge weed killer, but I don't know what that is.
Is it possibly a soap solution? If so, how much do I add in relation to chemical weed killer?

We carry DyneAmic Surfactant. DyneAmic is a high quality non-ionic surfactant that  greatly enhances the effectiveness of herbicides. The surfactant helps penetrate the natural waxy tissue of plants.

  • Asked by Bryan from Williamstown
    07/26/2018
    Q
After using DyneAmic Surfactant, can I clean my backpack sprayer as normal with water rinsing?
    A

To properly clean sprayer tanks and preserve the longevity of the tank and parts, it’s recommended to clean your tank with a tank cleaner like Spray Tank Cleaner & Neutrilizer.  Neutralize is a powerful and safe way to remove pesticide residues from your spray equipment. It effectively cleans and removes pesticide residues left by 2,4-D and sulfonylureas, residues that are hard to remove and extremely active at low rates. Neutralize has passed extensive corrosive testing. It is non corrosive to humans and is safe to use on all internal and external areas of spraying systems. Neutralize helps prevent damage to rubber plastic and other soft sprayer parts.

    Q
Can I apply DyneAmic Surfactant separately from my herbicide and get the same result?
    A

A surfactant such as DyneAmic has no herbicidal properties on its own.  You cannot apply separately from your herbicide, fungicide, or insecticide later and get the same results.

    Q
    Does DyneAmic damage sprayer seals?
I used it when applying Drive XLR8 and the pump got really sticky. I used a syringe to measure the DyneAmic and also noticed it got really sticky. Will it do damage or is it just a result of the decreased surface tension? (sprayer is a Chapin 61800)
    A

DyneAmic Surfactant should not damage sprayer seals if the tank is cleaned properly after each use.

    Q
How much Dyneamic Surfactant to use in 4 gallons of Tenacity on my home lawn?
    A

Per the Dyneamic Surfactant product label you can use anywhere between 1/4 to 3/4 ounce per gallon of water no mater what product you are using. Anywhere in that range will give you good results so to make it simple you may want to go with 1/2 ounce to each gallon of tenacity you mix up.

  • Asked by Dennis from La Crosse, Wisconsin

    Q
I'm using QuinKill Max Crabgrass and Weed Killer. How do I mix it and how much surfacant do I add?
Would it be best to use a pump sprayer to get the mixture more accurate?
    A

QuinKill Max Crabgrass and Weed Killer  is mixed at 1.45 oz per 1,000 square ft area. It is recommended to use a methylated seed oil like DyneAmic Surfactant at 1-2 teaspoons of per gallon of water. It is better to use a hand pump or backpack sprayer to ensure the most accurate application.

  • Asked by Marianne from Otter Tail Lake, Minnesota
    08/19/2019
    Q
What is a surfactant, and would I need it with the Rodeo herbicide I have already received?
    Any dangers?
    A

A surfactant is a product that helps herbicide, fungicides, or insecticides to work more effectively by reducing the water tension when you spray, minimizing drift and making spraying more even. We have an article here with more details. If you are using Rodeo Herbicide, then you should use a surfactant with it, such as DyneAmic

While many glyphosate herbicides already contain a surfactant, those which are labeled for aquatic use usually require that you add a surfactant separately.

  • Asked by Steve from Louisville

    Q
Can I use DyneAmic Surfactant with Trimec 1000?
    A

We apologize but we do not carry a Trimec 1000 product so are not sure if a surfactant is needed with it or not.  We would recommend referring to the product label for complete instructions. While DyneAmic Surfactant can be mixed with most herbicides not all require you to use one and some advise against using one.

    Q
Can DyneAmic be an acceptable alternative to a COC or MSO?
Around Aug 1st, I'm going to spray my tall fescue lawn (to get rid of unwanted Bermuda grass) with a mix of Pylex and Turflon Ester. The Pylex Label states to add a Crop Oil Concentrate (COC) or Methelated Seed Oil (MSO).
    A

DyneAmic Surfactant would be an acceptable alternative.

  • Asked by Pat from Terre Haute, In
    10/26/2019
    Q
Will adding DyneAmic to the herbicide Rodeo to kill pseudocorus iris in a marsh harm the frogs?
I read a study that it is the surfactants that injure frogs not the herbicide; is that true?
    A

A surfactant such as DyneAmic Surfactant could potentially harm frogs or other wildlife if you sprayed them with the product directly. When used as directed, this product is labeled for use in aquatic areas. You can view the full toxicity information on the Safety Data Sheet here.

  • Asked by A. from 96720
    11/22/2019
    Q
Is DyneAmic the best surfactant that can be used for both herbicides and insecticides?
    A

Since DyneAmic Surfactant is a high percentage oil, you may not want to use it on more sensitive plants for insecticide applications, especially in the summer. Hi-Yield Spreader Sticker is a great choice for most insecticides or herbicides. Keep in mind that some herbicides will call for an MSO (methylated seed oil) or other type of surfactant. You can browse all our surfactants here.

    Q
Is DyneAmic Surfactant the same as spreader sticker?
I mix spreader sticker with Talstar for mosquito and ticks. Will this harm bushes or plants?
    A

DyneAmic Surfactant is a type of spreader sticker that is a blend of non-ionic surfactant and a refined and modified spray oil. Since there is a slight risk of burn when using crop oils in higher heat, we recommend using a non-ionic surfactant without crop oil when applying insecticides only. Hi-Yield Spreader Sticker would be a great choice for use with your insecticide application.

  • Asked by Jared from Owasso, Ok

    Q
I accidentally used 3 oz of DyneAmic Surfactant per gallon. Will that hurt anything?
    A

Using more than the recommended mix rateof DyneAmic Surfactant could potentially cause plant damage and cause runoff that decreases effectiveness of the herbicide.
