    Q
What can I use to prevent Cicada Killers from nesting in my yard, year after year?
I have a terrible problem with Cicada Killers year after year. We can't seem to kill them no matter what we use (Sevin, etc). Will this product get rid of them? They get so bad in July, my mail person is afraid to deliver mail to the house.
    A
Cicada Killer wasps thrive in disturbed environments, such as landscaped yards and places where bare soil is exposed. You can discourage the wasps from nesting in your yard by cutting your grass on the highest setting and by adding a thick layer of mulch to flower beds during the Cicada Killer Wasp season. These wasps do not like over saturated lawns either, so over watering during their season will help prevent them. Unfortunately, there is no fool proof way to prevent cicada killer wasps. For current infestations, you would need to use Delta dust in each individual burrow.

We also like to let our customers know that the Cicada Killer wasps are beneficial insects that provide free pest control for a couple months each year. Cicada killer wasps paralyze and provision their burrows with other insects to feed their young.  The beneficial Cicada killer wasps, while large and intimidating to see, are mostly harmless and there have been very few reports of anyone getting stung by just being near them. In most cases where a sting was reported, the wasps were being held or molested in some way.

    Q
Can ExciteR be used with a micro encapsulated pesticide such as Cy-Kick CS and Bifenthrin?
    A
Yes, ExciteR Insecticide can be used for that extra punch in any insecticide product that we carry.  The only products you would not want to use ExciteR in are non-repellent products which of there are only two on our site, Termidor SC and Phantom.

    Q
When can I wash off pyrethrin spray used on kitchen counter tops and floor?
the exterminator told me i couldn't wash the countertops or floor for 3 weeks in order to retain the insecticide's power to take down roaches. but it is so dirty and gross looking with the insecticide residue splattered over everything--i don't know if i can wait another 2 weeks before i am able to clean again. for now i have been using the stove top for food prep--which is very limiting also. so is it true--i really can't clean anything yet??
    A
While we will not comment on your exterminator's work, we will advise you on how pyrethrin sprays are usually used for roach control. Most pyrethrin sprays have wording like this on the product label "Remove or cover exposed food and cover foodhandling surfaces in edible product areas of food handling areas" or "Cover or remove all food processing surfaces. Thoroughly wash all food processing surfaces before reuse".  Roach control sprays are usally applied directly into crack and crevices where roaches spend most of their time, not on surfaces where the roaches are unlikely to make direct contact. Also, while pyrethrin may irritate roaches for a couple of days after it has been applied, it is only likely to kill the roaches while it is wet.

    Q
Is a rate of 1/4-1/2 oz per gallon of Excite R to much when mixed with Bifen I/T (1oz/gallon)?
The application rates on the label vary from indoors to outdoors and for specific insects and vary when used as a companion to another insecticide. I am spraying outdoors targeting mosquitos and I want to use the strongest amount allowed.
    A
You can use 1/2 fl oz of ExciteR and 1 fl oz of Bifen It per gallon of water for mosquito control outdoors for the fastest knockdown and the longest lasting residual.

    Q
Can you combine ExciteR with Temprid?
Can ExciteR be added to Temprid? The reason I'm asking is since imidacloprid is a non-repellant, will adding more pyrethrins reduce its effectiveness? I'm actually curious as to how Bayer was able to combine a pyrethroid and a non-repellant in the 1st place.
    A
Yes, you can combine ExciteR with Temprid SC.  ExciteR is merely a "hot" additive that packs a punch and kills insects rather quickly for a short period of time but it does not leave a long term residual.  Since the other products in Temprid do leave a long term residual but do not really pack an initial punch, it is often recommended to add a product like ExciteR for a faster knockdown.  As far as your comment about combining Imidacloprid with Cyfluthrin, the manufacturer did not combine these two together expecting them to be used as a non-repellent and have insects pass the product on.  They combined the two solely based on how they effect the insect and their long term ability to leave a long term residual.  Temprid is not used as a non-repellent product and so it is ok to mix the products.

    Q
Can I use ExciteR in the Fog RX thermal fogger?
I have the Fog RX thermal fogger and used the ULD BP 300 with good results, however it's rather pricey. Would ExciteR be an alternative if I mix it with mine rail oil or kerosene? And if so, what ratio would be recommended?
    A
ExciteR Insecticide can be used in a thermal fogger. It is recommended that ExicteR be mixed with an insecticide because it is a synergist. It is used to make a product work faster to kill insects. It can be used as a stand alone product for a quick knockdown as well. ExciteR Insecticide can be mixed with either water or oil. It should only be mixed with oil when being used in a thermal fogger. You will use 1 fl. oz. of ExciteR Insecticide in a gallon of oil or water.

    Q
What can I use to get maximum mosquito control?
I use Talstar P as barrier control for mosquitoes at max rate per square ft. Is there another product available?
    A
It is important to remember that mosquitoes breed and repopulate very quickly and you may continue to see mosquitoes in your area daily even when using a great residual control product such as Talstar. Mosquitoes must land on the treated areas to be killed so be sure you are spraying the areas where they are known to land such as the underside of the leaves on trees and shrubs. It is also helpful to spray a 2 ft wide band around the perimeter of your property to deter low flying mosquitoes from entering. You can add a product to Talstar called ExciteR. ExciteR will give you a fast knockdown of these biting pests and it is also somewhat repellent and Talstar will give you the long term residual you will need.

    Q
How do I mix ExciteR, Suspend SC and Gentrol using 1 gallon sprayer
It was recommended to me to use these 3 chemicals mixed together for bedbugs by a licensed PCO...I would like to know how to mix these 3 for 1250 interior sf. I purchased the ExciteR and Suspend from DoMyOwnPestControl. Another question....My washer/dryer is located in my garage where I wash all linens with bugs...Do i need to treat my garage as well?
    A
For Bed Bug control, mix 2.125 oz of ExciteR with 1.5 oz of Suspend SC, along with 1 oz of Gentrol IGR per gallon of water. One gallon of the finished solution will cover aproximately 1,000 square feet. Yes, it is advisable to treat the garage where your washer and dryer is located. We recommend you spray back behind and underneath your washer and dryer and along the baseboards/perimeter of the garage.  Please read over our Bed Bug Treatment Guide and be sure to read the ExciteR, Suspend, and Gentrol before use.

    Q
What foggers can be used with ExciteR and Talstar?
    A

While Talstar P cannot be used a fogger, you can use Exciter alone in a ULV/thermal fogger. For tank mixing these 2 we recommend hand pump sprayers, hose end sprayers, backpack sprayers and mist blowers.

Can Cy-Kick and ExciteR be mixed together for a more effective broadcast spray?
I know to obviously follow the label when mixing but do I use less product when mixing the 2 together? What would the ratio be when mixing the 2 together?

    Q
Initial kill of sod web worms
I have been using Bifen IT, granules and liquid spray for about 30 days now. I had a lot of damage from sod web worms last year and am currently seeing tons of "moths" in the last couple of weeks. This is even after the spray and granules had been down a couple of weeks. Would it be useful to use the ExciteR as an initial knockdown for these moths?
    A
Unfortunately it is hard to prevent flying insects completely. We recommend focusing on continuing to treat your yard as you have been. You can certainly mix the Exciter with the Bifen IT liquid and that will give you a great knockdown. One important tip is to treat in the evening when the sod webworms are most active.
