Product Overview

Fertilome Weed Out Nutsedge Control kills both purple and yellow nutsedge and more than 50 other broadleaf weeds in both cool- and warm-season grasses. For best results, apply when weeds are young.  Also works for more established weeds when applied very thoroughly.  This product works quickly because it is absorbed by both the leaves and the roots of target weeds.  It is rainfast in as little as 2 hours.  Wait at least 3-6 months after application to reseed.

APPLICATION RESTRICTIONS AND PRECAUTIONS

  • For best results, apply to weeds when less than 3 inches high. Wait at least 4 weeks after treatment before reseeding, winter overseeding or plugging lawns.
  • Use only on well established non-stressed turfgrass. Applications to stressed plants (turfgrass or target weeds) may result in temporary discoloration or poor weed control. Allow turfgrass to develop good root system before applying.
  • If discoloration occurs, treated turfgrass will recover with new growth and discolored leaf tissue will be removed with mowing. To reduce potential for discoloration, do not apply Ferti-lome Weed-Out Nutsedge Control on turfgrass that is weakened by weather, mechanical, chemical, disease or other related stress. Maintain proper cultural practices such as adequate moisture and fertility levels to promote healthy turfgrass growth.
  • Avoid applying when windy to prevent product drifting to other plants. Try to avoid overlap spraying.
  • Do not apply to newly planted, plugged, or sodded turfgrass.
  • Do not spray over-the-top of flowers, ornamentals (including herbaceous) or garden vegetables other than those listed on the label under “Control of Weeds in Ornamentals” Section as injury may result.
  • Do not use on turfgrasses other than those listed on the label.
  • Do not use in greenhouses.
  • Do not graze or feed treated grass clippings.
  • Do not apply more than 9.3 fl. oz. of product per 1000 sq. ft. per year.

This is toxic to marine/estuarine invertebrates. To protect the environment, do not allow pesticide to enter or run off into storm drains, drainage ditches, gutters or surface waters. Applying this product in calm weather when rain is not predicted for the next 24 hours will help to ensure that wind or rain does not blow or wash pesticide off the treatment area. Drift and runoff may be hazardous to plants in neighboring areas. Care should be used when spraying in order to avoid contact with fish and reptile pets in/around ornamental ponds.

    Poa Annua grass

    By Becky on 03/26/2021

I bought this specifically for Poa in my beds. I mixed stronger than recommended and sprayed 3 week ago. It has done nothing. A tad of yellowing but grass is still growing well. Do Not buy for Poa.
