  • Asked by Frank

    Q
How many ounces per gallon of product
    A

Fertilome Weed Free Zone is applied at the rate of 1.5-2 oz. per 1000 sq.ft. in 1-2 gallons of water. The water is merely the carrier to get the chemical evenly distributed over the lawn so whether that takes 1 gallon of water per 1000 sq.ft., or 4 gallons of water per 1000 sq.ft., both are correct so long as you are getting the right amount of weed free zone over that area.

    Q
Does Weed Free Zone kill Prunella Vulgaris? How effective is it and when is the best time to apply?
    A

While the active ingredients in Ferti-lome Weed Free Zone are known to kill selfheal (Prunella Vulgaris), this product does not specifically list prunella vulgaris as one of the weeds controlled therefore we are guarantee it efficacy to eliminate it.

We would recommend contacting the Master Gardener with the County Cooperative Extension Office for their recommendations on what they have found successful to eliminate prunella vulgaris from home lawns.

    Q
How do you pour into measuring cup without excess spilling down side of bottle?
    A
When pouring the Fertilome Weed Free Zone into a measuring cup, we suggest tilting the bottle slowly until the liquid starts to flow from the opening, much like when pouring milk from a jug into a cup. If you are concerned about drips you can place newspaper or similar material under the bottle while measuring, and use a paper towel to wipe off any excess on the edge of the bottle before replacing the cap and storing the remaining solution.

    Q
Can Ferti-lome Weed Free Zone be applied using a hose end sprayer?
    A

Yes, Fertilome Weed Free Zone can be applied using a hose end sprayer however these sprayers are not the best method for adequate coverage. It is recommended to use hand pump/backpack sprayers with herbicides to ensure you are able to use sufficient water volume to evenly and thoroughly distribute the active ingredient per the recommended square coverage.

With hose end sprayers, there is no way to regulate the water volume or know if the correct amount of product is covering the square coverage recommended.
