    Q
Is it safe to use Fertilome Weed Free Zone in my goat pasture?
    A

Fertilome Weed Free Zone cannot be used in any pastures or grazing areas. If you have weeds you need to control in those areas we would recommend taking a look at Crossbow Herbicide, as it is safe for use in pastures and covers a wide range of weeds. You can review the product label to make sure your target weeds are listed as well as to make sure the non target grasses you have will be safe to use the Crossbow over.

    Q
Will Ferti-lome Weed Free Zone kill grass and flowers?
    Creeping charlie in flower beds
    A

The label for Ferti-Lome Weed Free Zone states not to allow spray drift onto vegetables, flowers, ornamental plants, shrubs, trees and other desirable plants since injury may result.   It is only meant to be used on turfgrass areas.  For broadleaf weed control in flower beds it is best to hand pull from this area or very carefully spot treat with a non selective herbicide avoiding any contact with desirables.

    Q
Will my lawn be okay if I over mixed the Fertilome Weed Free Zone?
Realized my sprayer was set to 6oz/gallon on centipede lawn. The lawn is currently dormant but full of green growing weeds. Will the lawn be ok?
    A

Unfortunately, there is not a way to know if the grass is going to be okay other than time to see if the until it is grows again after over applying Ferti-lome Weed Free Zone. The only way to reverse an herbicide is with activated charcoal within hours of application.

  • Asked by Dolores from Houston, Texas

    Q
Will Ferti-lome Weed Free Zone still be effective if I mowed on Saturday and sprayed it the next day?
Will this product still be somewhat affective and is it harmful to toddler playing on grass. My dog likes eating grass, will it harm my pet?
    A

Fertilome Weed Free Zone is effective on a variety of broadleaf weeds. We recommend reviewing the product label to ensure it will kill the weeds you are dealing with. In order for the product to be safe, we recommend keeping children and pets out of the area while making an application and let it all completely dry before letting them back outside to play. Once dry it is safe, but like humans, pets can react/become sensitive to different things, we recommend keeping an eye on your pet and consulting your vet if needed. You can reapply Weed Free Zone after 30 days if needed for additional weed control. Going forward, do not mow within 2 days of your herbicide application for best results and the best safety on your turfgrass.

  • Asked by Ken from In
    04/15/2021
    Q
Once the flowers die back, can I spray Ferti-lome Weed Free Zone to that area with no damage to crocuses?
    A

We apologize but we are unsure if an application of Fertilome Weed Free Zone, or any herbicide application, would be safe. Any type of flower would be susceptible to the herbicide being absorbed and harming it along with any weeds you sprayed. If there is no crocus leaf tissue showing or growing above ground to come into direct contact with the chemical, its possible they would be fine, we just could not say for sure.

  • Asked by Kristin from St Cloud
    05/06/2021
    Q
If there is a drought or dry spell, should I water the lawn a day before applying Ferti-Lome Weed Free Zone to help with uptake?
We haven't had rain in a while (2 weeks). The top soil is dry. Should I water the lawn a day before to help the plants uptake the chemicals better?
    A

The Fertilome Weed Free Zone can be applied to dry or damp soil, and it is often recommended to water lawns the day before an herbicide to help with uptake. That is a great plan and should help with any stress the plants may be experiencing from drought. You do not want to have any rain or irrigation for at least 4 hours after an application of the herbicide.
