    Q
Will it harm myoporum parifolium (ground cover).
I live in Kingsburg, Calif. Instead of having a front lawn, our landscaper planted a fast growing ground cover. Bermuda grass is now intertwined with the ground cover and slowly spreading everywhere. Bermuda lawn is prevalent here.
    A
The Fusilade II Herbicide is commonly used to remove bermudagrass and other grassy weeds from ornamentals and groundcovers. However, the product label does not state that it has been tested on myoporum parifolium to ensure that it is safely tolerated. Although, Fusilade II Herbicide has been shown to be safe on other evergreen groundcovers we would recommend contacting Syngenta at 800-383-1194 to ensure suitability.

    Q
I'm looking for a product to use around liriope and agapanthus that is safe.
    A
Fusilade Herbicide is labeled to be safe for liriope and agapanthus but without knowing what you are trying to eliminate it is difficult to say if this will be the right product. Please provide additional information on what it is that you are eradicating so that we can find you something that will be effective and safe.

    Q
Have sprayed advanced weeds in bananas 6 days ago. How long before I can expect a result?
    A

First, we would like to inform you that Fusilade II Herbicide is not labeled to be used on or around any edibles such as bananas. However, the time of kill depends on a few different variables such as the specific weed you are targeting, the outside temperature, as well as the ground temperature. The hotter it is outside the quicker the kill and you also have to be sure that the ground temperature is atleast 55 degrees. If below 55 degrees then the target weeds will be dormant and a kill will not be likely. Although, weed growth is halted and within just one week there will be loss of vigor, yellow and/or reddening, and eventual death of the treated grass weeds.

  • Asked by David from Culver City Ca

    Q
Can I tank mix Fusilade II with Docket DF?
    A

As long as no unfavorable results occur when mixing the two products together, and no harmful effects occur when spot treating an inconspicuous area of your turf, then the tank mixing is fine to do.

Per the Docket DF Product Label:

The required amount of Docket DF should be added slowly into the spray tank during filling. When tank mixing other products with Docket DF, follow the proper sequence of adding products to the spray tank. Add wettable powders or water dispersible granules such as Docket DF to the water in the tank first, followed by floable products, then emulsifiable concentrates. Provide sufficient mechanical or bypass agitation during mixing application.

  • Asked by Ed from Tampa, Florida

    Q
Can this product be safely applied over Muehlenbeckia Axillaris?
    A
The Fusilade II Herbicide does not mention the effects on Muehlenbeckia Axillaris. Although, Muehlenbeckia Axillaris is a low creeping groundcover and Fusilade II is used for the control of grass weeds in landscape areas, roadsides, nurseries, greenhouses, flower beds, and groundcovers. Therefore, we believe it would be safe but we would recommend contacting the manufacturer, Syngenta for further advice.

    A
Nor, Fusilade or Acclaim are labeled to kill Centipede. It is hard to find a product that will kill Centipede in Zoysia. You could spot treat with Roundup. Another option, would be to contact you Cooperative Extension Office and speak with the Master Gardener.

  • Asked by Marg from Houston, Tx

    Q
Use of Fusilade II Herbicide on St Augustine in controlling Bermuda
How safe and if OK, which mixture option would apply for st augustine
    A

Fusilade II can only be used to remove bermuda grass from Tall Fescue and ZoysiaG rass when used at reduced rates but it is not labeled for use on St Augustine grass so we cannot recommend it for this use. We are not aware of a product that is labeled to remove Bermuda grass from St Augustine.

Unfortunately Bermuda grass is so closely related to St. Augustine grass that there is nothing that will remove Bermuda from St. Augustine and not hurt the Bermuda as well.  In your situation it is recommended to spot treat the Bermuda with GlyPhoSel Pro and kill it directly, and then replant St. Augustine in those areas.

Updated Jan 2025:Fusilade is not labeled to be used on St Augustine for bermuda grass control when tank mixed with Recognition Herbicide.  Following these instructions Recognition Herbicide 2(ee) Supplemental Label-St. Augustine

  • Asked by Dennis from Lenior City, Tn

    Q
Can Basagam be used to control weeds & grasses in Blue rug junipers_
    A

Fusilade II is a selective herbicide for application over flowers, bushes and ornamentals that kills grass and grassy weeds in your flower bed and ornamental planting areas.  You should mix a surfactant with it.  It typically takes 2 weeks to see results after application.

We will need to know what kind of broadleaf weed you are dealing with so we can recommend the correct product for that need. If you need help identifying the weeds you can call your local cooperative extension office and ask to speak to the master gardener on staff and he/she should be able to help you make the identification and in most cases even recommend the best product for the job. Below you will find a link to help you find your local cooperative extension office:

    Q
Will Fusilade II Herbicide kill honeysuckle and not juniper bushes?
    A
Fusilade II Herbicide will not eradicate honeysuckle or juniper bushes. They are tolerable to the product for over the top applications per the product label. The two species are closely related so it is difficult to find a product that will kill one without harming the other. Please contact your local Master Gardener for additional information, http://www.csrees.usda.gov/Extension/.

    Q
Can Fusilade II Herbicide be sprayed on asian jasmine to kill broad leaf and grasses?
We do not have the jasmine all grown in after 15 months but growing with fertilizer now. We have lots of broad leaf plantain and some other grasses what do we do for a spray that won't kill jasmine.
    A
Fusilade II Herbicide can be applied to established Asiatic Jasmine to eradicate grassy weeds. Snapshot 2.5 TG would be a good choice for a broad spectrum pre-emergent around Asiatic Jasmine for the broadleaf weeds.

    Q
Will Fusilade kill tall Fescue out of my Liriope beds???
    A
Fusilade II will not kill fescue in Liriope. It is hard to recommend a product that will kill fescue, but not Lirope. You could us a glyphosate product like Ranger Pro. Doing your best to lift the Liriope up and away from the Fescue while spraying Ranger to the Fescue. You can also contact the Master Gardner in your area for more information on treatment.
