  • Asked by John from Abilene, Tx
    10/15/2016
    Q
Is Fusilade safe to use on milkweed (Asclepias spp)?
I am going to use this product with a surfactant to control small patches of bermuda (tiff 419) cropping up in raised beds of native milkweed (Asclepias speciosa, tuberosa, and eriocarpa). Is it safe around milkweed (I am assuming so since it is a flowering perennial)?. Thanks in advance.
    A

Fusilade II Herbicide does not list milkweed on the product label as a tolerable species to applications.  We recommend contacting Syngenta 866-796-4368 to confirm that Fusilade II could be used on it.

    Q
Will Fusilade II Herbicide harm woody plants?
We need to kill torpedo grass, but have woody plants in the area. As such, will Fusilade harm Knockout roses, Crape Myrtle, or Camelia Japonica?
    A

  • Asked by Thomas from Tamaqua, Pa
    12/30/2016
    Q
Can I use Fusilade II Herbicide over my established day lilies that have wild strawberries?
    A

You can use Fusilade II Herbicide for over-the-top applications to established daylilies, but Fusilade targets grassy weeds only and will not kill the wild strawberry. Products that will kill the wild strawberry could also potentially harm the daylilies, so you would need to make directed applications, taking care to avoid the desirable plants, or you can remove the strawberry by hand. You could use a non-selective such as RoundUp QuikPro or a broadleaf herbicide such as Fertilome Weed-Out with Trimec for this application, taking care to cover and/or avoid the lilies or other desirable flowers.

  • Asked by Leonard from Glendora, Ca
    01/29/2017
    Q
Can Fusilade II be used on Kurupia (Lippia nodiflora) ?
I have an established lawn (13 months) of Kurapia (Lippia nodiflora) in So. California. Kurapia is relatively new in California but is becoming popular to it's drought resistant properties and appearance. It is doing well except for some weeds. I've tried spot treating with Roundup but it is not effective long term. Once I get these weeds under control I will treat with a pre-emergent (Prodiamine 65WDG).
    A

Fusilade II Herbicide is a grassy weed control herbicide, so it is not safe for use around most types of grasses. Since Kurapia is not listed as tolerant on the product label, we would not recommend using the Fusilade II Herbicide on this groundcover. If you are going to test it for tolerance, we would recommend testing a small area first. If you would like to let us know what specific weeds you are targeting, then we could at least suggest a produce that would control those plants, even if the Kurapia may not tolerate it. You may also want to check with your local Cooperative Extension office for assistance with what herbicides it may be able to tolerate. Since this is a newer type of groundcover, it probably will take some time before it is listed on herbicide labels.

  • Asked by Hector from San Jose, Ca

    Q
I used 4ml of Fusilade and 1oz of Kinetic Non-Ionic Surfactant to get rid of Bermuda grass, and my Kentucky blue/Fescue grass died 6 weeks after.
The grass died at first frost 6 weeks after application. 1000sq ft. Would the Fusilade or Kinetic make the lawn more susceptible to frost damage? The Bermudagrass died within 2 weeks.
    A

We are not aware of either product making grass more susceptible to frost damage, but Fusilade II Herbicide is a grass killer and is not labeled as safe to apply to Kentucky Bluegrass.  While it is labeled for removing bermudagrass, this is only in Tall Fescue and Zoysia Lawns.   It does state on the product label that it is not for use on home lawns as well.  We would recommend reseeding the area.

    A

Fusilade II can be used to get rid of Bermuda grass in tall fescue.  You will also need to add a nonionic surfactant for best results.  Please be advised that Bermuda grass is extremely difficult to control and you will likely need to make several applications.

  • Asked by Crystal from Annville, Pa
    04/23/2017
    Q
I have weeds in my beautiful ivy beds. What can I use to get rid of the weeds without harming the ivy?
    A

You did not mention what kind of weeds are in your ivy beds.  If they are mainly grassy weeds, you can use a product like Fusilade II Herbicide to treat them.  Broadleaf weeds, however, are a little more difficult to treat, as most products that will kill broadleaf weeds will also kill the ivy.  You can try spot treating broadleaf weeds very carefully with a nonselective product like Roundup QuikPro, but usually the safest way to remove broadleaf weeds from ivy is by hand pulling.

  • Asked by Mary from Paso Robles, Ca

    Q
Will Fusilade II Herbicide hurt rabbits who eat the remaining grass in the yard?
have wild rabbits who come into yard on regular basis. If I apply at night then water in the AM. Will the grass the rabbits eat be safe for them? am using product to kill foxtail. Do not want to harm rabbits or my dog who occasionaly may eats grass!
    A

Fusilade II Herbicide should not be used in your turfgrass because it will harm it as well. This product is meant to be used inside of groundcover, over flowers, and around ornamentals. We do have other products that can be used in your lawn for foxtail.

If you are using this product in those areas, it is recommended that you keep any animals off of the lawn until the product has dried completely. Once it has dried, it is safe for animals to go back into the area.
