    Q
What is the difference between the blue and the yellow Golden Malrin Fly Bait?
    A

Golden Malrin Fly Bait used to be yellow, but the EPA required the company to change the color to a bluish green since yellow looked too much like a corn or grain and they did not want children confusing it with corn.  It was the same product, just a different color.

    Q
What happens if an animal eats the Golden Malrin Fly Bait?
    A
You should always keep pest control products as well as cleaning chemicals or any other like product away from and out of reach of children and pets.  A pet would have to consume a large quantity of Golden Malrin Fly Bait to get sick.  We do offer fly bait stations that only let flies in to eat the bait and keep it locked up from children and pets.  If your pet happens to eat a large quantity, then you should call your veterinarian immediately.

An average 8 or 9 lb cat would have to eat several teaspoons of Golden Malrin for there to be a toxic effect. Golden Malrin should only be used in secured Fly Bait Stations or in areas that are inaccessible to animals to avoid accidental ingestion.

    Q
Where should I place the fly bait in my stables so the horses cannot get to it?
    A
Without seeing your stable we have no way of knowing what areas would be inaccessible to your horses. If you find that you do not have an area that is inaccessible to the horses where you can safely scatter the bait, the product label does allow you to use the Golden Malrin Fly Bait in tamper resistant Fly Bait Stations. The stations should be placed at least 4 feet off the ground and out of reach of the horses.

  • Asked by Matt from Hawaii
    04/02/2018
    Q
What happens if a fly lands on the bait, then lands on my food. Will my food be contaminated?
    A

We would not recommend using Golden Malrin or other similar fly baits in an immediate area where you are consuming food since the bait will attract flies. Regardless, there would be so little active ingredient picked up by one fly that it would not be harmful. This is a bait, so the flies are actually ingesting it. Flies also constantly groom, so they ingest what is picked up on their feet, as well. Flies will die very quickly after contacting Golden Malrin, so they may not make it to a food area.

This bait is discontinued. We have other Fly Baits here.
