    Q
What time of year do I apply Ornamec 170 if I want to kill Bermuda in my fescue lawn?
    A

For spot treatments of tall fescue using Gordons Ornamec 170 Grass Herbicide with hand-operated sprayers, make applications in the spring and fall. You will start applications after green up and take care with applications to tall fescue during the summer months (July and August).  You should avoid applications when the turf is under stress due to drought, temperature extremes, or chemical injury. The rate is 2 fl.oz. of product per 1 gallon of water to treat each 1,000 square feet of turf. You will repeat application in 14-21 day intervals if regrowth occurs (may take 1-2 growing seasons for complete control).

  • Asked by Don from Houston Texas
    05/14/2015
    Q
Will Gordons Ornamec 170 Grass Herbicide kill the bermuda grass invading my St. Augustine with out harming it?
    A
Unfortunately, Bermuda grass is so closely related to St. Augustine grass that there is nothing that will remove Bermuda from St. Augustine and not hurt the Bermuda as well.  In your situation, it is recommended to spot treat the Bermuda with Round Up and kill it directly, and then replant St. Augustine in those areas. We do carry some professional round up products:  http://www.domyownpestcontrol.com/nonselective-herbicides-c-188_408.html

  • Asked by Jay from Laurel
    08/04/2019
    Q
Can I mix Gordons Ornamec 170 Grass Herbicide with Tenacity on Tall Fescue lawn for weed control of Dallis Grass?
Can I mix this with Tenacity and apply to Tall Fescue lawn for weed control of Dallis Grass and other weeds?
    A

Gordons Ornamec 170 Grass Herbicide is labeled to control dallisgrass in tall fescue in the spring.  Tenacity Herbicide states the following in reference to tank mixing. We always recommend doing a small tank mix test before application. "Tenacity has been tested in tank mixtures with Barricade 65WG Herbicide (prodiamine), Vanquish® (dicamba), Turflon® ester (riclopyr), Spotlight™ (fluroxypyr), Quicksilver™ (carfentrazone), Basagran® (bentazon), Princep® (simazine), and AAtrex® (atrazine) for safety and efficacy on turfgrasses. Tenacity must be applied at reduced rates (4 fl. oz./A or less) if tank mixed with atrazine, bentazon or simazine. Other tank mixture partners may be safe but have not been tested. Turf managers wanting to tank mix Tenacity with other herbicides should test on a small basis for compatibility, safety and efficacy before treating large areas
