    Will Crossbow kill the sword fern that are growing with or near the blackberries I am targeting?
    I want to use Crossbow according to directions to kill blackberries in my pastures and fence rows. I do not want to kill nearby sword ferns.

    As long as you are not directly spraying the ferns, Crossbow should not harm or cause disoloration. To make sure this is true for your specific applciation please also contact

    Should I wait until the plants are done blooming and the bees are gone before spraying crossbow?

    Crossbow Herbicide could be toxic to bees.  If you are concerned about bees, wait until they ar enot done pollinating before making application.

    Can I use 1 1/2 gallons diesel to 8 oz. of Crossbow, to kill tree stumps after they are cut down?
    A

    Per the Crossbow product label: To prevent or control regrowth from cut stumps, mix 4 gallons of Crossbow in diesel oil, No 1 or No 2 fuel oil or kerosent to make 100 gallons of spray mixture.

    This breaks down to about 5.12 oz of Crossbow per gallon. So for 1 1/2 gallons you would use approx 10.24 oz of Crossbow

    After how long is Crossbow Herbicide rainfast?

    Crossbow Herbicide will become rainfast in 4-6 hours after application but it would be recommended to apply when no rain is forecasted within 24 hours.

    Can Crossbow Herbicide be used on land within the 100' radius of our domestic well?
    We have grasses & weeds we want to kill that in the yard that is inside the 100' radius of our domestic water well. Will Crossbow penetrate down to the water table? Our well is about 100' deep, but, we don't know if there is other points of entry higher up.

    According to the label, Crossbow Herbicide should not be used in areas where the water table is shallow and the soil is permeable because it will contaminate the water. We generally recommend that you use any herbicides at least 10-15 feet away from the well.

    How long should I wait to put in new plantings after application?
    I will be spraying to clear poison ivy/oak, and other brush which are around trees and I will be replanting the area with ornamental shrubs and perenials.

    You do not want to reseed any sooner than 3 weeks after application of Crossbow.

    Depending on what you are treating for, please find product label, you would mix approx. 2oz Crossbow per gallon water. The mix rate will vary according to what you are treating for.

    How long after spraying Crossbow Herbicide can it volatilize?
    If I spray on a cool evening, will it volatilize on subsequent days if temps get above 85? Thanks.

    Crossbow Herbicide will not volatilize as long as it is not applied when temperatures exceed 85 degrees, or can be applied and dry before temperatures reach this range.

    What precautions do I need to take when using Crossbow?
    A

     When applying Crossbow Herbicide, the applicator needs to wear shirt, shoes, socks, pants, and chemical resistant gloves. If applying in a non-ventilated area, applicator will need to wear a respirator mask.

    Crossbow is not labeled for use on home lawns so we cannot advise that you can apply along with a fertilizer.

    Will Crossbow Herbicide kill established centipede grass?
    A

    Crossbow is not supposed to harm established grasses, according to the manufacturer.  This being said, we always recommend treating a small area first to test the results especially with a sensitve grass species like centipede.  As long as your grass is not stressed by drought and it is healthy the grass should not be harmed.

    What effect does Crossbow have on birds, rabbits, turkeys and other wildlife that feed and nest near area to be sprayed?
    Needing to do selective clearing of an overgrown area. Will it harm wildlife?
    A

    Typically any wildlife living in that area is going to move out while you are doing any clearing, walking, towing, or spraying of a product in that area. Products like Crossbow are designed to be safe for people and pets once dry and the safety likely is the same for wildlife. This time of year with hot temperatures surfaces should dry within about 30 min to an hour after spraying depending on how heavily you put it on the target plants. If you can find anything to do in that area for about 30 min after you spray to help keep the wildlife from moving back in for a bit they should be safe to return to their normal habitats and routine.

    When is the best time to spray Crossbow Herbicide?
    I have 90 acres in CRP and is thick with Sumac, broadleaf weeds, etc. It is about four feet tall now. Should I wait til spring after it is bushhogged to spray to be more effective?

    Crossbow Herbicide is labeled to make a maximum of 2 applications per year on annual & perennial weeds, and once per year for woody plants.  However, if the Sumac is that thick, we would certainly wait until it is cut back completely and then apply the product to get the best results possible.

    Can I use Crossbow Herbicide around fishing ponds for Alder and Willow that are growing on the shoreline?
    A

    Crossbow Herbicide lists on the product label that it is toxic to fish and may be toxic to aquatic invertabrates.  Drift and runoff may be hazardous so treatment should be kept at least 15 feet away from the shoreline to prevent getting into the water.  A better option would be something actually labeled for use around aquatic sites such as Diquat or Rodeo.

    Will Crossbow Herbicide kill overgrown cutover?
    I have some land that was cutover. Will Crossbow kill most everything but grass? This land is scattered with pine, hardwood trees, brush, briers, private, holleys and all types of weeds. It is a typical south Alabama cutover I am trying to turn into pasture. I do not desire to kill the bahia grass or all the trees but need to thin it out so to speak, make it more manageable.

    Crossbow Herbicide is known to be a great product to kill brush and other unwanted woody plants. You should not spray if it is windy, and be careful that over spray does not get on the desirable trees. Crossbow Herbicide is not supposed to harm established grasses and should pose no threat on your Bahia grass, according to the manufacturer. This being said, we always recommend treating a small area first to test the results.  As long as your grass is not stressed by drought and it is healthy the grass will not be harmed. Before using Crossbow Herbicide we suggest going over the product label.
