    Q
Does Hi-Yield 38-Plus Insect Control kill fire blight?
My flowering pear tree has fire blight. Will Hi-Yield 38-Plus work for this?
    A

Hi-Yield 38-Plus Insect Control 38% Permethrin is an insecticide only and will not affect any diseases.  There is a great article here on this disease that recommends liquid copper.  Bonide Liquid Copper Fungicide Concentrate is labeled for fireblight on pear trees, but it does need to be applied as a spray application since a systemic fungicide would not be effective.  You would mix 0.5 to 2.0 fluid ounces of product per gallon of water, and the label states, "for fireblight apply in the dormant period, during season bloom, or as in-season cover spray.  Do not exceed one application during the fall, late dormant period.  Do not exceed one application between silver tip and green tip growth stages....Do not exceed 1 gallon of product per 100 gallons of water.  Repeat application every 7-10 days during bloom and growing season if needed."

    Q
Can I mix and use Hi-Yield 38-Plus Insect Control - 38% Permethrin on vegetables
I bought Hi-Yield 38 Plus for my garden, can I cut and mix this for vegetables. Is the other ingredients same as other ingredients 10% and if so what would be the mix per gallon Thanks
    A
The Hi-Yield 38-Plus Insect Control - 38% Permethrin is not labeled for use on vegetables so we cannot advise on rates for that use nor would we recommend you apply it to anything edible.  The Hi-Yield Indoor/Outdoor Broad Use Insecticide with 10% Permethrin Insecticide is the Permethrin product that can be used on vegetables and should be used.  The inert ingredients in a product are the manufacturers trade secret that they do not have to disclose so we do not know if there is any difference in the two.

    Q
My 4 month old female cate just died due to over exposure. What can we do if this happens again?
She was exposed at noon to day and died at 7pm. When I became aware of her medical condition when was unmoving and shakeing real hard in jerking motions. I took her to the bathtub and bathed her in cool water with dawn soap. I repeated the wash and held her in my arms in the water for an hour. We didn't have the means of adequit transpertation to take her to the emergency vet and could not get any other amswer as to any other treatment that we could preform.
    A
We are truly sorry to hear about your cat. The Hi-Yield 38-Plus Insect Control - 38% Permethrin label instructs all pets be kept out of the treated area until the product has dried. When treating with any insecticide inside or outside, it is important to follow the manufacturer's safety proceedures. Once the product has had time to dry, it is safe for humans and pets to be in the area. Please let us know if you have any further questions.

    Q
Can you use 38-plus to treat scale on Pinon Pines?
I see that Permthrin 2.5, scale is listed. Why is it not listed on the Hi-Yield 38-plus?
    A
We really cannot say for sure why the manufacturer did not include scale on their listed pests on the product label. We do recommend that you stick with a product that specifically lists your target pest for best results. Most of the master gardeners recommend Acephate as the needed active ingredient to control this scale. We carry Acephate 97 UP and it is labeled for control of the crawling stage of the scale.
