    Q
Will Hi-Yield 55% Malathion Insecticide Spray get rid of black sooty mold on crepe myrtles?
    A

HI-Yield 55% Malathion Insect Spray is going to kill listed insects that are the actual cause of black sooty mold such as scale and aphids. It is recommended to clean the trunks, branches and areas where black sooty mold has developed with some soapy water and rinse off. Then, follow up with an insecticide labeled to treat for scale/plant sucking insects and apply as a foliar spray application.

For Ornamentals, the mix rate is 1.5 to 2 fl oz per gallon of water. Refer to the product label for more information.

We have Identification Guides for Scale and Aphids which are the most common that feed on plants and cause black sooty mold.

Following the Inspection Guide, you will find our Scale Treatment Guide and Aphids Treatment Guide for additional information.

    Q
If I used 55 % malathion for army worms and it is killing them, can I still spray the talastar, and how long s
    A
If you are seeing the desired results after spraying the armyworms with Hi-Yield Malathion Insecticide Spray, then you do not need to apply another product such as Talstar P unless you are needing to retreat after at least two weeks. The only exception would be if you used the Malathion on ornamental plants and then needed a product to use on the turfgrass since malathion is not labeled for use on lawns.
