    Q
Can I use Hi-Yield Crabgrass Weed Control in March?
Is it to late to put High Yield Crabgrass control in March? I live in region 6 in Georgia.
    A

Please contact your local cooperative extension office to determine the correct timing of the application as this will vary greatly from region to region and also dependent on what type of weeds you are trying to control or prevent. You want to have pre-emergent for crabgrass control down before soil temperatures average 55 degrees for best results.

  • Asked by Daniel from Milltown Nj

    Q
When should Hi-Yield Crabgrass Weed Control be applied in the summer time?
    A

Hi-Yield Crabgrass Weed Control is a pre emegent herbcide that should be applied prior to weed germination for best results. This product will have no control on actively growing weeds. For pre emergent control of summer weeds, pre emergents should be applied in early spring when soil temps are around 55 degrees however timing can vary from region to region.

For specific timing recommendations, contact your local cooperative extension office to enquire when the appropriate application time would be in your area.

We also have our Cool Season Lawn Care Schedule and Spring Pre Emergent Guide for more information.

    Q
How long do I wait before sowing Bahia seed after application of Hi-Yield Crabgrass Weed Control?
My permanent lawn is basically non existent however I planted annual rye for winter cover. I want to plant Bahia seed for the 2014 summer. I removed carpet grass just before sowing the winter rye. I am concerned that there is carpet grass seed in the soil. I live about 50 miles north of Tampa Florida. Can you advise of the time frame I should use for application the sowing the seed?
    A
Hi-Yield Crabgrass Control should be applied 1 to 2 weeks before germination of annual grass weeds for best control, this varies by region.  Your local cooperative extension office would be able to advise you on the best time.  Since this product is a pre-emergent, you have to wait at least 3 to 4 months before re-seeding your lawn after application.

  • Asked by Joel from Lancaster, Pa

    Q
What is the rotary spreader rate and best timing for applying Hi-Yield Crabgrass Weed Control?
Hi, What does the rate depend on? I would normally Scott's Turf and Crab on 20,000 sq ft. What rate for my location? Need to determine how much to order.
    A

Rates depend on your lawn type.  Per the product label for Hi-Yield Crabgrass Weed Control on Northern Cool Season grasses, you would apply 1 3/4 to 3 1/5 lbs per 1000 sqft.  Apply in the spring, 1 to 2 weeks prior to the onset of conditions favorable for annual grass weed seed germination.  This will vary from region to region and you should contact your local cooperative extension office to enquire when the appropriate application time would be in your area. The product label also contains spreader settings to refer to. If your spreader is not listed, Scott's has a tool on their website that might help.

  • Asked by Josh from Trumbull, Ct

    Q
How does Hi-Yield Crabgrass Weed Control compare to something with Dimension 2EW?
I've always heard that Dimension is the best product to use against crabgrass, but I see that this gets great reviews. Are they both equally as effective? What's the main difference?
    A

Hi-Yield Crabgrass Weed Control has two active ingredients that work together to prevent weeds from emerging. The main difference between the two products are the active ingredients. The active ingredient in Dimension 2EW is dithiopyr. It will work if you use it in early spring and/or late fall. Per the label, this product should be applied 1-2 weeks before the germination of annual grass weeds for the best control. We do have Hi-Yield Turf & Ornamental Weed and Grass Stopper that contains Dimension as well. This will eliminate crabgrass as well as other weeds as well.
