Most insecticides are non-selective, so what would kill one insect would kill another. It is generally recommended not to spray flowering plants and to avoid spraying in the middle of the day when pollinators are most active. This would be recommended when using Hi-Yield Lawn, Garden, Pet and Livestock Insect Control.
Hi-Yield Lawn, Garden, Pet and Livestock Insect Control while labeled to treat for bedbugs it is labeled to treat crack and crevices indoors in poultry houses and animal quarters, but not inside a residential home. A better option would be Ferti-Lome Come and Get It! Fire Ant Killer. It uses the naturally occurring active ingredient Spinosad to control fire ants in your lawn, and in and around your plants. This product can be used in lawns and other turfgrass areas; recreational areas, including golf courses, parks, playgrounds, and playing fields; ornamentals growing outdoors; tree nuts, citrus, stone fruit, tree fruit, and vegetables. The bait granules are taken back to the colony to be fed to other ants. You will begin to see results from Ferti-Lome Come and Get It! Fire Ant Killer within 12-24 hours with full colony control in 3-14 days.
