    Q
What is the mixture of Hi-Yield Lawn, Garden, Pet and Livestock Insect Control for fire ants?
    A

Per the product label for Hi-Yield Lawn, Garden, Pet and Livestock Insect Control: "Mix 1 1/2 fl. oz. (3 Tbs.) in 1 gallon of water to treat one mound. Apply the solution as a gentle rain to each mound using a sprinkler can. Thoroughly wet the mound and the surrounding area to a 4-foot diameter. For best results, apply in cool weather, 65° - 85° F, or in early morning or late evening hours. Treat new mounds as they appear. Do not disturb the mound prior to treatment. Treat all mounds in the vicinity, and treat all colonies which have not yet constructed mounds. Do not use equipment that produces a pressur-ized spray since this will disturb Fire Ants and cause migration, reducing product effectiveness. Use this same method for Fire Ants that exist in con-tainerized plants."

    Q
Will Hi-Yield Garden & Farm Insect Control kill Cicada Killer Wasps?
    A

Hi-Yield Garden & Farm Insect Control is labeled for Cicadas at the mix rate of 1.5 fl oz per gallon of water.

For cicada killer wasps, it is commonly recommended to use Delta Dust (not in areas where animals graze etc please refer to the product label) in each individual burrow. Cicada Killer wasps thrive in disturbed environments, such as landscaped yards and places where bare soil is exposed. You can discourage the wasps from nesting in your yard by cutting your grass on the highest setting and by adding a thick layer of mulch to flower beds during the Cicada Killer Wasp season. These wasps do not like over saturated lawns either, so over watering during their season will help prevent them. Unfortunately, there is no fool proof way to prevent cicada killer wasps.

We also like to let our customers know that the Cicada Killer wasps are beneficial insects that provide free pest control for a couple months each year. Cicada killer wasps paralyze and provision their burrows with other insects to feed their young.  The beneficial Cicada killer wasps, while large and intimidating to see, are mostly harmless and there have been very few reports of anyone getting stung by just being near them. In most cases where a sting was reported, the wasps were being held or molested in some way. Cicada Killer Wasp stings are also reported to be almost painless.

    Q
Can Hi-Yield Garden & Farm Insect Control be applied on pasture with cattle?
    A

Hi-Yield Garden & Farm Insect Control is only labeld for topical fly treatments directly to livestock such as cattle (beef or dairy), goats, sheep, hugs and horses. This cannot be used in pastures for fly or insect control.

Evergreen Pyrethrum Concentrate can be used for contact killing of insects in pastures.  It will not leave a residual to keep killing though.  Treated areas are safe to return to once dry, typically after 4-6 hours.  The only option we have with residual for pastures would be the Essentria IC Pro.
