Hi-Yield Grass Killer Post-Emergent Herbicide requires the use of a crop oil concentrate and not a non ionic surfactant, these are not the same correct?

Oil or sometimes called crop oil is not the same as a good nonionic surfactant.

Answer:

While Non Ionic Surfactants, Crop Oil Concentrates and Methylated Seed Oil Surfactants are all categorized as “wetting agents” or “adjuvants” and are similar in that they help herbicides stick and penetrate into the weeds cuticle surfaces providing better coverage. While they are similar, the manufacturer will advise on the product label IF a “wetting agent” is recommended and which type to mix with the herbicide. Always refer to the product label for additional information and any addtional tank mix products that can be used.   Hi-Yield Grass Killer Post-Emergent Herbicide suggest using a crop oil concentrate for grassy weed control. Refer to Rate Chart on page 7 of the product label for more information.
