    How to get rid of Vetch in flower beds?
    what should i use to get rid of crown vetch in my flower beds. It has deep long tendrel roots like carrots . Other than tearing up and starting over what should I use?? should I use ERASER?
    A
    You can use a round up type product like eraser as a spot treatment, but if you want to get rid of the Vetch selectively you can use Lontrel.  You can apply Lontrel over your flowers and it will only kill the grassy weeds, like vetch.

    What can I use to kill Dichondra in a St Augustine/Bermuda lawn?
    Will it also kill the grasses?

     Southern Ag Atrazine Weed Killer for St. Augustine Grass would be a good option as it is labeled to control dichondra and it can safely be applied to St. Augustine turf.

    How much Lontrel do you use per gallon of water in hand held sprayer?
    A
    The first thing you need to know when using an herbicide such as Lontrel Herbicide is that the exact amount of water you dilute it with is not important. It is only important to make sure you are using the correct amount of product per 1,000 sq ft of lawn. Use too much and you risk damaging your lawn, use too little and you will not get adequate results. You did not indicate what type of weeds you are treating or what type of turf the weeds are growing in. You can find the application rates per 1,000 sq ft located on pages 4-5 of the Lontrel product label. To decide how much water you want to use, you should mark a 1,000 sq ft area, fill your sprayer with water ONLY, and start walking and spraying just as if you were doing the actual application of herbicide. When you are done walking and spraying the 1,000 sq ft area note how much water it took you to spray that area. That is the amount you will want to mix the specified amount of product with for each 1,000 sq ft area that needs to be treated.

    What is the best selective herbicide to kill thistle in VA
    Thistle plants have invaded my front flower bed that contains mature azaleas. I have thistle plants growing up in the azaleas and they have spread like wildfire in the bed in front of the azaleas. I have pulled them out by hand; I have used a hoe: I have used a vinegar solution; I tried to smother them with landscaping fabric and mulch. Nothing has worked. Hope you have something for me. I certainly appreciate the product, Talstar that I bought from you for our invasion of stink bugs... the product was incredible!

    You can use a round up type product like eraser as a spot treatment, but if you want to get rid of the thistle selectively you can use Lontrel.  You can apply Lontrel over your flowers, shrubs, etc and it will only kill the grassy weeds, like thistle.

    What is the best product(s) recommendations to completely eliminate thistle?
    I am battling an invasion of thistle trying to take over the entire yard. I believe it is too late this year in Colorado for pre emergents as I see small thistle plants actively sprouting throughout the grass and rockbeds. The product needs to be safe for children and pets within a few hours after application.

    You can use Lontrel to treat grassy weeds like Thistle. Lontrel is a pre-emergent that works great in treating thistle. Please read the product label to make sure you can apply this product your lawn.

    Is Lontrel Turf and Ornamental Herbicide safe for Juniper?

    According to the Lontrel Turf and Ornamental Herbicide product label, this product can safely be applied to Shore Juniper, Blue Rug Juniper, and Blue Star Juniper as a direct or over the top spray.

    Will Lontrel (clopyradil) harm my liriope spicata?
    I have crown vetch in my liriope spicata and need to chemically eradicate it.

    Lontrel is not recommended for Residential use. There is such a high percentage of Clopyralid that it will not only kill the Crown Vetch, but everything else too, including Liriope Spicata. AmTide MSM 60 DF or  Blindside would be some options for you to use.

    Can I use Lontrel to kill thistle in an English ivy bed?

    Lontrel Turf and Ornamental Herbicide has not been tested for English Ivy. The manufacturer cannot say if it will or will not kill the English Ivy.

    I have a wide verity of leafy weeds in a vinca ground cover bed will lontrel kill the vinca?

    Can Lontrel be used as an over-the-top on daylily?

    Lontrel Turf and Ornamental Herbicide is labeled for field lilies not specifically labeled for daylily applications. Fertilome Over the Top II Weed Killer is labeled to be used over daylillies.

    Will Lontrel Turf and Ornamental Herbicide kill torpedo grass in a Centipede lawn?
    I'm trying to kill torpedo grass that's invading my Centipede lawn, will this work for that?

    Lontrel Turf and Ornamental Herbicide is not labeled to be used on residential lawns.  Most of the herbicides will only suppress the torpedograss for a short time. It is recommended to spot treat the torpedo grass with a non-selective herbicide such as Round Up Quick Pro and then reseed or sod in the treated areas.  Solitare is one such herbicide labeled to suppress it and is safe for Centipede grass.

    Will Lontrel Turf and Ornamental Herbicide kill vines in my liriope?
    I have vines in my lirope. How can I kill them? You suggested MSM for weed control, but I have killed a lot of Lirope with MSM. What other options do I have?

    Lontrel Turf and Ornamental Herbicide is not labeled to kill ivy or vines. You may want to try spot treating the vines with Hi-Yield 2,4-D Selective Weed Killer. It is labeled to kill ground ivy and similar plants, although it does not list monkeygrass or liriope specifically as a tolerant species, so you should still be careful when applying it.

    Lontrel Turf and Ornamental is labeled to control clover in ornamental plantings.  Mazus is not listed on the label as tolerable but you can test in a small area to be sure it will not also harm it.

    Can I mix Lontrel with Q4 to eliminate both grassy and broadleaf weeds with the same mixture?

    Yes, Lontrel Turf and Ornamental Herbicide and Q4 Plus Herbicide can be mixed in the same tank. Be sure to do a small tank mixture first to ensure that there is no clumping between the two products.

    Is Lontrel recommended to remove clover from a bed of vinca minor?

    Lontrel Turf and Ornamental is a selective post-emergent herbicide that controls certain broad-leaf weeds in turf and certain ornamental plantings, such as conifers and non-leguminous woody species, in landscapes and nurseries. It does not specifically list vinca minor as tolerable on the product label. Please contact the manufacturer, Dow Agrosciences, at 800-992-5994 to ensure this product will not harm vinca minor.

    Lontrel Turf and Ornamental Herbicide is not labeled for bindweed (morning glory) control. We currently do not offer a product that will selectively work as a post control for morning glory in junipers.

    I have Bermuda grass that is infected with dichondra. I want to use Lontrel, but it says not for residential lawns. What can I use?

    Lontrel Turf and Ornamental Herbicide is not actually labeled to control dichondra but you are correct is not for residential lawns.  We apologize but are not able to locate a product that would kill it.  While some products such as SpeedZone or Drive state do not apply to dichondra, we cannot recommend them since not a labeled use.
