Details

Solitare Herbicide features a patent-pending, optimized combination of sulfentrazone and quinclorac that combats post-emergence weeds from the foliage down and the root up. Labeled for the control or suppression of over 60 weeds, Solitare provides fast, visible results with symptoms appearing just a few days after treatment.

General Information

Solitare Herbicide is a selective post-emergence herbicide which controls annual grasses, broad-leaf weeds and sedges in established turf areas for residential, commercial and institutional lawns, athletic fields, commercial sod farms, golf course fairways and roughs.

Solitare Herbicide is formulated as a 75 WG (water dispersible granule) containing 0.75 lbs. of active ingredient per pound of product and is absorbed by shoots, foliage and roots.

A post-emergent application of Solitare Herbicide is improved when adequate soil moisture is present at application. Best weed control results will be obtained when no rainfall or irrigation occurs within 24 hours after application. If no rainfall or irrigation occurs within 7 days after application of Solitare in the amount of 0.5 inches, then irrigation of at least 0.5 inches is recommended.

    Knocks out Green Kyllinga

    By Anonymous on 06/20/2013

    Verified Purchase

This product was recommended by Do My Own Pest Control to kill Green Kyllinga and it works! One application and within a couple days I could see the weeds beginning to brown and shrivel. As the roots of this pest go very deep, it will probably take multiple applications over time, but I'm convinced it will be eradicated or, at the least, well under control. As I'm using this in a spray bottle for spot application, it would be helpful to have mixing directions included with the product.

    This stuff is POWERFUL!!!

    By Lisa on 03/25/2015

With our SECOND year of having bermuda sod mixed with NEW southern weeds, (nutsedge, carpetweed, crabgrass, wild onion and garlic), we have seen a noticeable difference with the use of this product! WOW! Our neighbors do not maintain a weed free lawn while we do our best to do so....Her weeds are just cut (not bagged) and they seem to always blow their way into our yard. With proper use of this product and within two days of application, we have seen the weeds in our sod die off and turn yellow. The wild onions and garlic are laying over begging for their lives. It is a bit pricey, but when you look at the results and the amount of time you gain by using the product, how can you argue it. IT WORKS....Our bermuda is on its way to being weed free for the second year. Thanks for making such a great product....We couldn't be happier using it and our yard thanks you, too!

    Great stuff

    By Thomas on 08/15/2015

I am a homeowner and I first learned about Solitare from my lawn service company. After seeing the nutsedge brown and die so quickly without damaging the Bermuda grass, I had to find out what they were using so I could spot spray weeds at my leisure. I am very happy with the results so far. Nutsedge showed signs of dying within 48 hours. Other weeds about the same. I used 1/2 ounce (used measuring cup that came with Solitare) per gallon in my 3 gallon back pack sprayer and used a fan type spray head. I'm still battling the spurge, but that seems to be a tougher weed to control.

    Great on weeds!

    By Brandon on 07/03/2017

This works terrific on weeds and probably deserves a 5 star for that purpose. However, it is somewhat difficult to completely mix into water, which is why it only gets 4 stars.

Q
I don't understand how to mix. I have 1/2 acre of Bermuda to cover. How much granule in how much water?
A

Don't feel bad, the herbicide labels are very hard to read and never tell you an amount of water.  This is because the amount of water doesn't really matter, or actually it would be different for everybody.  Once you determine how much product you need to apply over 1/2 acre, the amount of water depends on how ever much water it takes for you to cover that area.  If you can equally cover 1/2 an acre with 1 gallon of water, or it takes 20 gallons of water, it doesn't really matter.  As long as the amount of active ingredient is spread equally over that area.  To calibrate your equipment, for example, a 1 gallon sprayer, mark off an area of 1,000 square feet, and cover that area at your normal pace as evenly as possible. If you used the entire gallon, you would use the recommended amount of product in 1 gallon of water.

The Solitaire label recommends applying between 8 ounces and 16 ounces per 1/2 acre, where 8 ounces would be for if you have a minimal amount of weeds, and 16 being used if you have a lot of weeds.  We usually recommend splitting the difference which would be around 12 ounces per 1/2 acre.  So you would add 12 ounces of product to however much water it will take to cover 1/2 of an acre.
