    Very disappointing

    By Margo on 09/23/2016

I purchased this product because it stated on the label that it would get rid of aphids. Two bottles and $45 later, my pecan tree is still infested AND now I have ants due to the sticky excrement from the aphids. I will not purchase this product again. Total waste of money.

We apologize you did not receive the expected results from using the product. Can you tell us how you did the application? Was it a root drench or a foliar application? What usage rate did you use? We look forward to helping you eliminate the aphids and the ants!

Questions & Answers

Have a question about this product?

Q
Does Martins Dominion kill tent caterpillars or fall webworms?

I am looking for a soil drench systemic insecticide to kill the above pests. Does Monterey Annual Tree and Shrub Concentrate kill them?

A
The Martins Dominion Tree and Shrub will not affect the tent caterpillars or the webworms. This is because a systemic insecticide of any form will not work for these types of insects. You would need to use a foliar spray to control them like the Fertilome Borer, Bagworm, Tent Caterpillar & Leaf Miner Spray. The dilution would be 2 ounces per gallon of water and reapplication times with vary with the type of plant you are treating on. You can refer to the product label for your exact needs.

Q
How much Martins Dominion Tree and Shrub do I use for my tree that is 59" around?

Per the directions, you mix 1 oz of insecticide per inch of tree circumference. My tree is 59"around. Am I understanding correctly? I purchased this product to treat my ash trees for emerald ask borer.

A

Yes you are correct, if your tree has a circumference of 59" you will use 59 ounces of Martins Dominion Tree and Shrub in 2 gallons of water and pour the  solution in a circular band from the base of the tree outward for three to four (3-4) feet.

Q
Can Martins Dominion Tree and Shrub be used on Dogs?

I have a friend that uses this on her dogs. The local farmer/COOP draws it up and she squirts down the back and never has fleas. I don't see what the dilution would be for animals..Can you help?

A

No, Martins Dominion Tree and Shrub cannot be used on dogs, as it is only labeled for lawns, flowers, trees and shrubs. Martin's Permethrin 10% can be applied to dogs to treat for fleas.

Per the product label:

Dilute 8 ozs in 12.5 gallons of water.

Thoroughly wet the animal by dipping, sponging or spraying. Allow the animal to dry in a warm place without rinsing or toweling. Do not reapply product for two to three weeks. Consult a veterinarian before using this product on debilitated, aged pregnant or nursing animals on medication.

Q
I have used the 1.47% imidacloprid as a drench for trees and shrubs with success for 3 yrs.

I see that you have Dominion which is 21.4% conc. of imidacloprid. Can this be diluted to the 1.47% for safe drench for trees and shrubs. If so, what is the dilution rate and wouldn't this be more cost efficient for me.

A
Dominion 2L would be mixed following the instructions on the product label.   You should use 0.10.2 fl. oz. (3 to 6 mL) of Dominion 2L per inch of trunk diameter (or foot of shrub height) (D.B.H.) diluted in 1 pint - 1 gallon of water per inch of trunk diameter or foot of shrub height.  You would not be able to dilute to a 1.47% as it is a stronger product and the percentage of active is different when diluted.
