    Is Martins Surrender Fire Ant Killer safe for dogs?
    A
    Yes, Martins Surrender Fire Ant Killer is safe for pets when it is used as directed. For the best results, you will apply this product in the early morning or late afternoon when the ants are most active. In a non-crop area, such as field borders, fencerows, roadsides, ditchbanks, etc., you will use 2 teaspoons per mound. If you are using Surrender to treat in residential, recreational and/or commercial turf, you will use 1-2 teaspoons per mound. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

    Will rain make Martins Surrender Fire Ant Killer ineffective?
    After I put it on the mounds we had some pretty heavy thunderstorms pop up.

    When using Martins Surrender Fire Ant Killer, it is only labeled to be used on mounds once per season, and this is a water-soluble product. So you would not want to re-apply per the product label to the same mound more than once per season regardless of how much rain you get.

    Can you mix Martins Surrender Fire Ant Killer with water to use as an insecticide spray?

    Martins Surrender Fire Ant Killer is for direct mound treating of fire ants only and should not be mixed with water or used for any other application.

    Martins Surrender Fire Ant Killer should not be watered in after application. Be sure to apply in early morning or late afternoon.

    Since Martins Surrender Fire Ant Killer kills many bugs such as roaches, will it also kill bedbugs?

     Martins Surrender Fire Ant Killer is only labeled for use outdoors for imported fire ants, harvester ants and other ant species. This product is not labeled for indoor residential use.

    Per the Martins Surrender Product Label: The active ingredient in SURRENDER is acephate, a water soluble insecticide readily absorbed by plant roots and foliage to give systemic control of feeding insects. Insect pests are generally controlled more effectively by SURRENDER through ingestion than by contact.

    We do have the product label for the Martins Surrender Fire Ant Bait here.  Application is to
    evenly distribute 1-2 teaspoons over each mound.

    If Surrender Fire Ant Killer doesn't kill on contact but ingestion, is it a bait? Can you use it in garden if absorbed by roots?

    Yes, Martin's Surrender Fire Ant Killer is considered a bait. It is a systemic product that is absorbed into the plant roots. We would not recommend using this product around edibles.

    Will grass contain enough poison after using Martins Surrender Fire Ant Killer to harm him?
    My dog eats grass when he is in the yard. I've seen that surrender is absorbed through roots of plants, (and I assume grass). Will the grass be a poison concern if my dog ingests after application

    Martins Surrender Fire Ant Killer is safe for pets when it is used as directed. It is recommended that you keep pets off of the area until the dust settles. Once the dust settles, they can go back into the area after that. The  manufacturer recommends at least 4 hours out of the area.

    Will Martin's Surrender Fire Ant Killer lose its effect if mixed with water?

    When using Martin's Surrender Fire Ant Killer, it is recommended that the product be applied directly to ant mounds. The rate is 1-2 teaspoons per mound.  It should not be mixed with water.

    I have a large fire ant mound at the edge of my vegetable garden. Can I use Martins Surrender Fire Ant Killer on that mound?

    No, Martins Surrender Fire Ant Killer cannot be used around edibles at all.

    We do have a product that can be used around your garden for fire ants. Ferti-Lome Come and Get It! Fire Ant Killer is safe for use around edibles and on your lawn as well.  This can be used as a broadcast or a direct mound treatment.

    Can Surrender Fire Ant Killer also be used if you don't have any mounds to sprinkle around the flower beds?

    Surrender Fire Ant Killer is only labeled for mound treatments once a year per the label instructions. We do carry Extinguish Plus Fire Ant Bait that is labeled for mound and a broadcast application and is applied on a dry when you are not expecting any rainfall for at least 24 hours.

    Martins Surrender Fire Ant Killer is not labeled for bed bugs or for indoor use at all. The smell of the product would likely also make your home unlivable.     Martins Surrender Fire Ant Killer is for use on fire ant mounds only and will not (and should not) be used to control mice. You can review our Mouse Control Guide to find the appropriate products to use for controlling mice in and around the home.

    Can Martins Surrender Fire Ant Killer be used in vegetable garden?

    Martins Surrender Fire Ant Killer is not labeled for use in vegetable gardens. Instead you could use the Monterey Vegetable Garden Soil Insecticide which is labeled for use in vegetable gardens. You could also use Ferti-Lome Come and Get It! Fire Ant Killer around most edible plants. Just keep in mind that you may need a high volume of bait.

    Should the mound/nest be stirred up before or after applying? or not at all??

    Per the label instructions, Martins Surrender Fire Ant Killer should be applied by evenly sprinkling 1-2 tbsp. over each mound, in the early morning or late afternoon when the ants are most active.  It is not necessary to disturb the mound.
