Monterey Vegetable Garden Soil Insecticide is a specially formulated insecticide that is effective in controlling over 45 insect pests such as ants, armyworms, billbugs, chiggers, chinch bugs, crickets, earwigs, fire ants, fleas, ground beetles, webworms, weevils, and more. It contains Bifenthrin as its active ingredient which features a low-odor formula and it guarantees to provide season-long control. It is ideal to apply this insecticide proactively (in the spring, summer or fall) so infestation can be prevented; otherwise, you can apply it at the first sign of insect activity or damage. It can be used on lawns, ornamentals, home perimeter/foundation, vegetables, and flower beds/gardens.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE
In New York State, this product may NOT be applied to any grass or turf area (lawns) within 100 feet of a water body (lake, pond, river,stream, wetland, drainage ditch). In New York State, do make a single repeat application of this product if there are signs of renewed insect activity, but not sooner than two weeks after first application.

HOW TO USE
Insects (see label): Uniformly apply 1 to 2 pounds over a 1,000 sq. ft. area of lawn. Best results are obtained if the treated area is thoroughly watered immediately after application.
For Centipedes, Millipedes, Pavement Ants: Uniformly apply 4 pounds over a 1,000 sq. ft. area of lawn. Best results are obtained if the treated area is thoroughly watered immediately after application.
For Mole Crickets: Uniformly apply 2 to 4 pounds over a 1,000 sq. ft. of area of lawn. For best results, treat in late spring and water thoroughly immediately after application.
For Fire Ant Mounds: Uniformly apply 1 tablespoon or 3 teaspoons of granules to the surface of each mound. For best results: 1) Apply in cool weather, 65 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit, in early morning or late evening hours. 2) Avoid disturbing ants. 3) Treat new mounds as they appear. 4) Thoroughly water the treated area after application.

Is this a typo or what? If it is indeed not to be shipped to over 40 states, then I figure this must be the good stuff. The listed active ingredient is only bifenthrin, so why the ban?
Monterey Vegetable Garden Soil Insecticide is not registered in the listed states. It can only be shipped to certain states for the time being. This can change once the registration is approved in those states.
