    Is Martins Surrender Fire Ant Killer effective for roaches?

    Is it necessary to wear protective clothing when applying Martins Surrender Fire Ant Killer?
    Is it safe in pastures that are grazed?

    We would recommend wearing gloves when applying Martins Surrender Fire Ant Killer so that the product does not get on your hands. If you are treating in an area that is not ventilated, such as in a crawl space, it is recommended that you use a respirator mask. No, Martins Surrender Fire Ant Killer  should not be used in pastures. We would recommend taking a look at Extinguish Fire Ant Bait if you are looking for a product that does not have any grazing restrictions.

    Is Surrender safe to be used around bee hives?

    No, Martins Surrender Fire Ant Killer is highly toxic to bees if it is applied to areas that they will come in contact with, including blooming crops or weeds.

    What is the best way to remove the odor of Martins Surrender Fire Ant Killer?
    We applied indoors for roaches and the smell is very bad.

    Martins Surrender Fire Ant Killer does have a very strong odor.  It is not labled to be used indoors nor to treat for roaches.  We would recommend that you contact the manufacturer directly for advice on how to safely remove the product and the odor.  You can reach Control Solutions by calling 281-892-2500. In the meantime, it would be a good idea to take a look at our Roach Control Guide to find some products that might be better suited for your needs.

    Can Martins Surrender Fire Ant Killer be used in vegetable garden?

    Martins Surrender Fire Ant Killer is not labeled for use in vegetable gardens. Instead you could use the Monterey Vegetable Garden Soil Insecticide which is labeled for use in vegetable gardens. You could also use Ferti-Lome Come and Get It! Fire Ant Killer around most edible plants. Just keep in mind that you may need a high volume of bait.

    Is Martins Surrender Fire Ant Killer safe to use in cattle/horse pastures?

    Martins Surrender Fire Ant Killer is not labeled to be used around cattle, horses, or anywhere animals will be grazing.  We would recommend a product like Extinguish Plus Fire Ant Bait instead.

    I have a large fire ant mound at the edge of my vegetable garden. Can I use Martins Surrender Fire Ant Killer on that mound?

    No, Martins Surrender Fire Ant Killer cannot be used around edibles at all.

    We do have a product that can be used around your garden for fire ants. Ferti-Lome Come and Get It! Fire Ant Killer is safe for use around edibles and on your lawn as well.  This can be used as a broadcast or a direct mound treatment.

    Will grass contain enough poison after using Martins Surrender Fire Ant Killer to harm him?
    My dog eats grass when he is in the yard. I've seen that surrender is absorbed through roots of plants, (and I assume grass). Will the grass be a poison concern if my dog ingests after application

    Martins Surrender Fire Ant Killer is safe for pets when it is used as directed. It is recommended that you keep pets off of the area until the dust settles. Once the dust settles, they can go back into the area after that. The  manufacturer recommends at least 4 hours out of the area.

    Will Martins Surrender Fire Ant Killer attract or kill my honey bees if used around flowering plants?
    Wife was given this product by the nursery when she asked for Amdro toe the ant mounds in our yard. I'm worried about using it around my two hives.

    No, the Martin's Surrender Fire Ant Killer will not attract or kill honey bees because of how it is applied. This product should only be used as a direct mound treatment. For the best results, you will apply this product in the early morning or late afternoon when the ants are most active. In a non-crop area, such as field borders, fencerows, roadsides, ditchbanks, etc., you will use 2 teaspoons per mound. If you are using Surrender to treat in residential, recreational and/or commercial turf, you will use 1-2 teaspoons per mound.

    Will rain make Martins Surrender Fire Ant Killer ineffective?
    After I put it on the mounds we had some pretty heavy thunderstorms pop up.

    When using Martins Surrender Fire Ant Killer, it is only labeled to be used on mounds once per season, and this is a water-soluble product. So you would not want to re-apply per the product label to the same mound more than once per season regardless of how much rain you get.

     Martins Surrender Fire Ant Killer is only labeled for use outdoors for imported fire ants, harvester ants and other ant species. This product is not labeled for indoor residential use.

    Yes, Martin's Surrender Fire Ant Killer is considered a bait. It is a systemic product that is absorbed into the plant roots. We would not recommend using this product around edibles.

    When using Martin's Surrender Fire Ant Killer, it is recommended that the product be applied directly to ant mounds. The rate is 1-2 teaspoons per mound.  It should not be mixed with water.

    What is the formula for mixing Martins Surrender Fire Ant Killer with water to treat for aphids?
    I was told it could be used to treat aphids on my crepe myrtle.

    Martins Surrender Fire Ant Killer is not for use as a systemic insecticide for aphids; it is only labeled to treat for fire ants. We would recommend using Adonis 2F at a rate of 0.1 - 0.2 ounces of concentrate per inch of trunk diameter as a root drench to treat for aphids on your ornamental trees. Be sure to follow the product label for complete application instructions.
