    Q
Do I need to add water to the Maxforce Granular Fly Bait in the bait stations?
I have a horse farm and we've installed 12 bait stations but I don't see them working yet and I was wondering if I need to add water and how often I need to add water? Thanks
    A

You can squirt some water on top of the Maxforce Granular Fly Bait to boost the effect of it. The label recommends to re-apply the bait every 7 days as needed. You may also apply it as a paint-on application and see if that works better according to your needs.

Paint-on application: Mix 1.5 oz bait with 1 fl oz warm water (3 lbs bait in 1 quart water) and stir thoroughly. Let stand for about 15 minutes until a paste consistency suitable for painting has formed. Apply the paste with a brush to surfaces where flies rest avoiding surfaces that are dusty.

    Q
Is Maxforce Granular Fly Bait safe for dogs?
    A

We would recommend placing the fly bait inside our tamper proof fly bait stations.  The stations require a key to open them and safely house the bait and protect it from children and pets.  Only the flies can get into the stations.

    Q
Can Maxforce Granular Fly Bait be sprayed or the granules be directly applied to grass?
I have some kind of an infection in my grass. Its like a sheet of flys across my entire lawn
    A

Maxforce Granular Fly Bait cannot be used openly in lawn areas, only in and around exterior perimeter of the structure as a scatter bait or in fly bat stations. We would recommend contacting the Cooperative Extension Office for help with identifying the cause of the flies whether it’s decaying matter or disease in the lawn.

    Q
Would it be toxic to a chicken who ate a fly killed by this?
    A

The chance of any secondary poisoning from Maxforce Granular Fly Bait to your chickens is extremely unlikely as the poison once ingested by the fly is only going to be a toxicity level to something the size of a fly. The only problem you would have is if the chickens were to consume the bait directly to avoid this we would recommend using it in stations

The Maxforce Granular Fly Bait is only labeled for the common or lessor house fly as you see on our site and its product label. The particular Q&As you referenced will be updated and corrected as it looks like they are from many years ago before that info was confirmed by the manufacturer regarding the main species it impacted. Q
I want to use this station and bait around my chickens. Where do the flies end up and are they then safe in CA?
    A

If you're using Maxforce Granular Fly Bait in a FBS-1 Fly Bait Station, the flies will die within approximately 60 seconds. Some may fly out of the station while some could die inside the bait station. We recommend placing the station away from food and water sources and in an area where they can easily be monitored and cleaned. Maxforce Granular Fly Bait can be shipped to, and used in California.
