The Hidden Dangers of Mouse Infestations

There are few things more annoying, and potentially dangerous, than an ongoing mouse infestation in your home. These tiny creatures can eat and contaminate your food, create large and unsanitary nests inside the structure of your home and spread many diseases, some of which can be life threatening. Therefore, if you have mice in your home your main focus should be getting them out for good. The good news is that there are several different products here at DoMyOwn that can effectively and completely eliminate a mouse problem of any size in your home or business.

“Stick” It To Them With Glue Mouse Traps

One of the more common methods of mouse control is known as a mouse glue trap. These sticky mouse traps are designed to be cost effective and low maintenance when compared with more hands on methods such as the application of rodenticides. Because they are non-toxic, mouse glue traps are an attractive option for those with small children or pets who might find themselves accidentally exposed to the more powerful or potentially dangerous methods of rodent elimination.

Not All Glue Traps For Mice Are Alike

Glue traps for mice come in several different varieties, all of which accomplish the same goal. The first type is the ready-made variety, which are slightly more costly but much less labor intensive than the second variety. The second option is to buy the boards and glue separately and make your own mouse glue traps for mice. This can be a great cost effective solution if you have a large area that you want to treat or if the infestation is large enough to warrant using a high number of glue traps.

Be Sure To Check And Clean The Traps Regularly

If you decide to use mouse glue traps as a way to get rid of the infestation, you need to be mindful of the fact that they have to be checked regularly for mice that might be trapped. Once a mouse or mice have been caught by the trap it should be disposed of so that animals and other predators are not drawn to the area, creating a larger problem than before. In addition, if the rodents are left for too long in the trap they will start to give off an unpleasant odor that should be avoided at all costs.

Not only is cleaning and emptying the traps vital to overall cleanliness but it will also give you a good update on how well your eradication efforts are going and how big the remaining infestation is. Once there have been traps laid out that have not caught any mice over a given period of time, you can rest assured that the infestation is over.

Whichever form of trap you decide to use, you can rest assured that they will give you the upper hand over these problematic little rodents.

A Poisonless and Snapless Trap

Using poison to kill a mouse works well in some situations, but there are times when it may not be the most effective form of treatment. Restaurants, food plants, kitchens, hospitals, and zoos are just a few of the places where this would be the case. Some people would prefer not to deal with poisons as a matter of preference. Safe, poisonless mouse glue traps catch mice on contact and are easy to set and dispose of. To use the trap effectively, place it along walls where mouse activity has been discovered, or about 8-12 feet apart between the mouse nest and food supply.
