Yes, MSM Turf Herbicide is labeled to treat aster and is safe for St. Augustine turf.
MSM Turf Herbicide is not labeled to treat quackgrass. Unfortunately, we do not currently carry any products that are labeled for quackgrass that are safe for use in your Kentucky Blue grass. We would recommend spot treating with something like Roundup QuikPRO and reseeding the areas. Becareful to avoid getting the product on desirable grass. If most of the lawn has been affected by quackgrass, the only sure fire way to get rid of it is to spray the entire lawn with Roundup. Spray when the lawn is growing actively, preferably in the spring. The treatment will kill the lawn grass as well as the quackgrass. After about two weeks, you may begin the replanting.
The maximum rate for MSM Turf Herbicide on centipede grass is 0.25 to 0.5 oz per acre for weed control. Please see the product label for complete application instructions.
MSM Turf Herbicide is not labeled to control Poa Annua. A product like Certainty Herbicide would be a great option for Poa Annua in St. Augustine turf.
MSM Turf Herbicide is not labeled to kill flowering plants but should not be applied inside the dripline of desirable plants or on areas where their roots may extend or in locations where the chemical may be washed or moved into contact with their roots.
According to the MSM Turf Herbicide product label there are no grazing or haying restrictions. However, coveralls and shoes plus socks must be worn if cutting within 4 hours of treatment.
MSM Turf Herbicide is not labeled to be used around anything edible or around desirable trees or shrubs. We would recommend using a non-selective product such as Avenger to carefully treat the weeds around your citrus trees.
If you are mixing multiple products together, then you are usually using the standard rates for each product, unless otherwise directed on the product labels. MSM Turf Herbicide may be difficult to mix with another water-dispersible granule such as Katana herbicide. You would need to make a small jar test for compatibility first, and I would also test a small area of turf for tolerance first. MSM can cause chlorosis of many turf-types, so you want to be very cautious about mixing that with other products.
You can appy Surflan Pro and MSM Turf herbicide at the same time. It is recommended to do a tank mix test first to ensure they're compatible and follow the most restrictive label. Also, MSM Turf can only be applied on warm season grass and make sure that the grass is out of dormancy. A separate application would probably be better as most pre-emergents require to be watered in as well.
Any mixed solution of MSM Turf Herbicide should be used or discarded within 24 hours. Per the manufacturer, their recommended rate to use for spot applications is of 0.1 oz per 4 gallons of water, which can be easily measured with their measuring device provided.
Dependent upon what type of sod grass you are treating, the manufacturers label for the MSM Turf Herbicide states:
Bahiagrass Control: For the selective control of Bahiagrass in Bermudagrass turf, use 0.25 to 0.75 oz of MSM Turf Herbicide per acre. Use the higher rates of the range on Argentine, Common and Paraguayan Bahiagrass. Apply a repeat treatment in 4 to 6 weeks if necessary. Some chlorosis or stunting of the Bermudagrass may occur following the application.
You will need to calibrate your sprayer to see how many gallons of water are being put out per every 1000 square feet, so you can calculate how many total gallons will need to be used per acre. That way you will know how much MSM Turf Herbicide to use per 100 gallons of water.
MSM Turf Herbicide should be mixed with a nonionic surfactant. Otherwise, if you plan to tank-mix with another herbicide, then be sure you do a small jar test for compatibility first. I would also spot treat a small area of grass for tolerance since the turf will be more stressed in summer.
Unfortunately, there is no easy way to measure 0.01 oz of Quali-Pro MSM Turf Herbicide to make a 1 gallon solution. Per the manufacturer, their recommended rate to use for spot applications is of 0.1 oz per 4 gallons of water, which can be easily measured with their measuring device provided.
Unfortunately, there is no easy way to measure 0.01 oz of Quali-Pro MSM Turf Herbicide to make a 1-gallon solution. Per the manufacturer, their recommended rate to use for spot applications is of 0.1 oz per 4 gallons of water, which can be easily measured with their measuring device provided.
There is a danger if using MSM Turf Herbicide around oak trees, so you want to be sure that you do not use MSM under any oak tree canopies: be sure to stay outside the drip line of these trees and do not spray if there is wind or other risk of drift to oak trees. Keep in mind that MSM can have a long soil residual, so you should not apply this near desirable trees or ornamental plants or where you intend to plant new trees or shrubs within 1 year and new bedding plants within 2 years. Please refer to the product label for complete application instructions.
MSM Turf Herbicide is not labeled for Virgina Creeper. You may use a product like Bonide Poison Ivy and Brush Killer BK-32 Concentrate to control Virginia Creeper. Please make sure to follow the instructions on the product label.
You should wait at least 1 week after applying MSM Turf Herbicide to fertilize.
MSM Turf Herbicide is no longer labeled for crabgrass control. We recommend Drive XLR8 Herbicide with Duo Stick Surfactant for post-emergent control of crabgrass on most common turfgrass types (this is not safe for centipede or St. Augustine).
According to the product label of Quali-Pro MSM Turf Herbicide, the mix rate is 0.33 to 0.5 oz of product per acre for wild onions. Please be sure to review the product label for more information and complete application instructions for your specific turfgrass.
