When Navigator SC Termiticide/Insecticide is applied via a trench, it bonds with the soil leaving a 10 year residual. When termites come across treated soil they will take the residual back with them & spread it on to others. If you simply pour it on the ground, it will not soak into the soil. It cannot be used to treat nests out in the yard.
We have a step by step guide that will walk you through how to do your own termite trenching treatment just like the Pros.Yes, Navigator SC will be effective on carpenter ants. You can only spray 12 inches out from the foundation along the edge, you would not apply all over a deck.
Navigator SC Termiticide/Insecticide will not damage any ornamental plants as it binds with the soil. If there are termites inside the tree, Navigator states you should drill a hole into the tree & apply the product directly where the carton nest is. It cannot be used in the trenching method around the base of a tree nor sprayed around the base of the tree.
For most projects Navigator SC Termiticide/Insecticide is mixed at .8 oz per gallon. However if you are just doing a perimeter spray you can spray it at either 0.4-0.8 fl oz per gallon. Please refer to the product label for complete instructions on your target pest/application.

The label for Navigator SC Termiticide/Insecticide does not mention anything about tank mixing with other products including with an IGR. It should also be applied around the outside perimeter of the home for protection. Please read the product label for complete application instructions.
We also have a step by step guide that will walk you through how to do your own termite trenching treatment.Although Navigator SC can be used only around the outside perimeter of the home and can help with some ants, it is not labeled to help with leaf cutter ants.
Leaf cutter ants can be a difficult pest to get rid of. The colonies are large and these ants make their own food so poison baits only have limited effects on this species of ants. According to several university websites, Maxforce Complete Granules containing hydramethlynon are some what effective, though they will usually eliminate only about 30% of a large colony in one treatment and will need to be reapplied several times. DeltaGard Granules is one of the only products actually labeled for leaf cutter ants. The product label recommends treating the mound directly and lightly watering the granules in. Again, it may take several treatments to get the desired results. We also recommend contacting your local cooperative extension office to see if they have any recommendations for products that have worked for other people in your region.

When applied as a perimeter spray for ant control at the highest rate, the product is applied twice a year. When applied using the trenching method for subterranean termites, the product will will last for up to 10 years in the soil.
