    Q
Does Navigator SC Termiticide/Insecticide soak into dirt to kill nests?
We see little dirt trails going up under our house so we know nests are under ground. How will we know if this product will work for us as companies dig a ditch and apply a killing chemical.
    A

When Navigator SC Termiticide/Insecticide is applied via a trench, it bonds with the soil leaving a 10 year residual. When termites come across treated soil they will take the residual back with them & spread it on to others. If you simply pour it on the ground, it will not soak into the soil.  It cannot be used to treat nests out in the yard.

We have a step by step guide that will walk you through how to do your own termite trenching treatment just like the Pros.

I have carpenter ants around my deck, will spraying Navigator SC on my deck be effective against them?
    A

Yes, Navigator SC will be effective on carpenter ants.  You can only spray 12 inches out from the foundation along the edge, you would not apply all over a deck.

    Q
Will Navigator SC kill plants around the house? Also should it be sprayed at the base of trees?
    A

Navigator SC Termiticide/Insecticide will not damage any ornamental plants as it binds with the soil. If there are termites inside the tree, Navigator states you should drill a hole into the tree & apply the product directly where the carton nest is. It cannot be used in the trenching method around the base of a tree nor sprayed around the base of the tree.

  • Asked by Joshua from Denver, Pa

    Q
I have a deck off the back of my house. Do I need to trench with Navigator SC under the deck or just go around it?
The deck is low. Maybe 2 feet off the ground. Will the Navigator SC be good if I just go around the deck?
    A

The soil trench with Navigator SC needs to be under the deck against the foundation, not around the deck itself. Some wood may need to be removed to access the area and replaced back.  You can trench around any posts as well.

  • Asked by Skinny from North Florida

    Q
Can Navigator SC be applied to turf for mole cricket control?
Looks like it is the same ingredient as in Bayer Chipco but a lot less expensive. Can dogs be on the turf once dry?
    A

Navigator SC Termiticide/Insecticide is not labeled for mole crickets nor for use in lawns, it is limited to applications adjacent to the foundation only.  Talstar P would be a better option for mole crickets in the lawn when used as directed on the label.

Products with the same active ingredient are not always designed/labeled for the same uses. Bayer Chipco is also a restricted use product that is only available to licensed professionals.

    Q
Is Navigator SC Termiticide a spray product? I live in the mountains of Arizona and would take a jackhammer
Can't dig trenches through rock. Is this a spray termiticide?
    A

When spraying outdoors around the foundation Navigator SC Termiticide/Insecticide  can last up to 4-6 months and then will need to be reapplied and is only for treating general pests like ants, roaches etc. You can apply Navigator SC as a perimeter spray up to 4 times per year: Twice at the 0.8 oz./gal rate; 4 times at the 0.4 oz. per gallon rate; or 3 times, spraying once at the 0.8 oz. rate and twice at the 0.4 oz. rate. For termite prevention it must be applied in a trench in the soil adjacent to the structure.

We have a step by step guide that will walk you through how to do your own termite trenching treatment.   Spraying on the surface is not effective for termites as they are inches below the soil when they are foraging and do not contact the direct surface.

    Q
Can Navigator SC Termiticide/Insecticide be mixed with an IGR?
    A

The label for Navigator SC Termiticide/Insecticide does not mention anything about tank mixing with other products including with an IGR.  While IGRs are labeled to be mixed with other insecticides, this product is a non-repellent and insects do not know they are coming in contact with it and would not be recommended to tank mix with other products. This is how it is spread throughout the colony.

  • Asked by Chester from Tucson Az

    Q
Does Navigator SC Termiticide/Insecticide work on leaf cutter ants?
    A

Although Navigator SC can be used only around the outside perimeter of the home and can help with some ants, it is not labeled to help with leaf cutter ants.

Leaf cutter ants can be a difficult pest to get rid of. The colonies are large and these ants make their own food so poison baits only have limited effects on this species of ants. According to several university websites, Maxforce Complete Granules containing hydramethlynon are some what effective, though they will usually eliminate only about 30% of a large colony in one treatment and will need to be reapplied several times.  DeltaGard Granules is one of the only products actually labeled for leaf cutter ants. The product label recommends treating the mound directly and lightly watering the granules in. Again, it may take several treatments to get the desired results. We also recommend contacting your local cooperative extension office to see if they have any recommendations for products that have worked for other people in your region.
