    Q
    Will Niban treat acrobat ants?
    A

Niban Granular Bait is effective on a variety of protein-feeding ants, although the product label does not specifically list or exclude acrobat ants. A great alternative would be Maxforce Complete Granular Bait, which does list acrobat ants on the product label. Please see our Ant Treatment Guide for more tips on controlling this insect.

    Q
How do I prevent large underground cockroaches and waterbugs from entering my basement?
I live in an area where there are large underground cockroaches and water bugs living underground, is there anyway to keep them from entering my basement or are they entering from underground
    A

The best way to keep insects like roaches from entering your basement or other areas of your home is to exclude them physically by checking for any gaps around doors, windows, pipes, and other utilities where they may be getting in. This may also include checking around a crawl space. You also want to be sure that you are keeping vegetation near the house trimmed and groundcover pulled back from the foundation so that the ground next to the house can stay dry and less favorable for these insects. A great product to use around the house and in a crawl space for roaches is Niban Granular Bait. This is a dry bait granule which can last through about 4 inches of rainfall. It also kills ants, crickets, silverfish, earwigs, snails and slugs. See more tips in our Roach Prevention Guide.

  • Asked by Shane from Kansas City, Ks

    Q
Is it safe to use throughout my yard if kids play in yard?
I have tons of crickets in the yard that also get into the house. I wanted to put something in the yard to help control the cricket population. However, my kids play in the yard. I don't know if this is safe. The label says "Hazardous to humans" and not to touch the stuff. Thanks!
    A

You will need the children out of the area during the application but it will be safe for them to return after the application has been completed. The granules will fall between the grass blades and into the soil layer where they will be pretty inaccessible to the kids.

    Q
Is Niban Granular Bait good for killing grasshoppers?
    A

Niban Granular Bait is not labeled for grasshoppers and we are not aware of a bait for them.  We would recommend using Bifen IT for grasshoppers and many other insects in the lawn and areas around the home. Per the product label, the mix rate for grasshoppers is 0.25 to 0.50 fl oz per gallon of water per 1000 sq ft.

    Is Niban harmful to birds?
Is Niban harmful to birds and other critters that might eat bugs after they have ingested it and are birds attracted to the bait?
    A
Niban Granular Bait affect insects differently than they would a bird, if a bird eats an insect killed by the bait it should not affect the bird.

  • Asked by Quan from South Carolina
    07/17/2017
    Q
Is there anything I can put down to assist with Niban Granular Bait?
I have a bad cricket problem going on around my house and I just put down Niban but along with crickets also comes spiders. I read that no other insecticide should be put down along with the bait. I was just wondering if there was some kind of way around this because I want to kill the spiders too.
    A

You can use a residual like Cyzmic CS Micro-encapsulated Insecticide in addition to Niban Granular Bait.  Just be sure to not place the bait down where you have sprayed as it can contaminant the bait and make it less attractive.  We have a video here for general spraying.  You can place the bait further out then the spray around the foundation and use in bait plate stations if using inside to keep it off treated surfaces or use the InTice Border Patrol System outside to keep out of treated areas.

    Q
Will Niban Granular Bait kill spiders other than daddy long legs?
    A

Unfortunately, Niban Granluar Bait is not labeled for spiders. When treating for spiders you want to look at two things that you can control: their habitat and their food source. We recommend you remove all the webbing that is in the area, and use a product like Transport Mikron to spray that would get rid of all the other pests that are in the area which is the spiders food source. While the Niban will control crickets, silverfish, ants roaches, and snails and slugs, it is not labeled like the Transport for a large variety of pest that are most likely in the area that are still a food source. You would need to eliminate their entire food source so that they will go look elsewhere for that. Transport Mikron is also labeled to treat for spiders as well should they actually come in contact with the product residual.

    Q
Will Niban Granular eliminate earwigs? If so, how often should I apply to the outside of the home?
I currently use Demand for inside the house spraying once per month. I apply Demon Max on the outside to the full parameter of the house once per month, spraying extra by exterior entry and garage doors. These products have worked great on everything but earwigs. I will find several earwigs in the house every day or so. Some alive, but most dead. Will Niban be the outside parameter killer of earwigs I need. Will it maintain an active parameter for a while around the house
    A

Niban Granular Bait - 4 lb. Shaker would be a great way to control earwigs, among many other insects.  This product is ready-to-use, weather/moisture resistant, and won’t degrade in sunlight or heat and can last through up to 6" of rain.  You can use Niban Granular Bait in conjunction to your normal insecticide treatments, as long as you don't spray anything over the bait, which would make it unappealing to your target insects.  You can reapply the bait as often as every four weeks for satisfactory control.

Please refer to the product label for complete instructions, and use as directed.
