Simply place this effective strip in an enclosed area and the slow-release vapor controls flying and crawling pests including flies, moths, roaches and more. It works continuously for up to four months with no odor and no mess.

How Nuvan ProStrips Work

Nuvan Prostrips are insecticidal strips constructed of resin plastic impregnated with DDVP (also called Dichlorovos) for control of crawling and flying pests. Nuvan prostrips work through vapor action: vapors emerge slowly over time and control pests exposed to the vapors. The active ingredient DDVP, or 2,2-Dichlorovinyl dimethyl phosphate, is a cholinesterase inhibitor that acts on a pest’s central nervous system to cause paralysis and death. When the foil packet is opened, the DDVP in the resin strips interacts with the moisture in the air. The active ingredient degrades quickly on surrounding surfaces; the strips slowly release the active ingredient so that a consistent level of DDVP is released into the treatment area. This level is high enough to kill target pests, while being low enough not to pose a risk to humans and other mammals.

Each Nuvan Prostrip treats 100-200 cubic feet of space for up to four months. After application, it may take several hours for the effective DDVP concentration to be reached in a treated area. Do not use in areas where people will be present for extended periods of time.

Target Uses

Nuvan Prostrips provide effective, long-lasting control of flies in garbage cans and dumpsters, control of mosquitoes in catch basins, and control of fire ants, wasps and other insect pests which commonly infest enclosed utility boxes, conduits, junction boxes, enclosed electrical panels and motor control rooms. They are ideal for control of moths infesting bulk-stored raw grains, and flies, mosquitoes and gnats in horse barns, calf and hog parlors, poultry houses, dog kennels and dairy milk rooms. They may also be used in reptile houses and terrariums, boathouses, and to protect museum collections from moths and other flying and crawling insects.

Nuvan ProStrips for Bed Bugs:

Nuvan Prostrips are being used for bed bugs in a number of different situations. One use of the product is to take any infested equipment, radios, bags, books or other household items and place them in a large trash bag.  Put one Nuvan Strip in the bag and leave the items enclosed for about 1-2 weeks.

Nuvan ProStrips Application Instructions

• Remove Nuvan Prostrips from sealed bag when ready to use. Place in desired location and out of reach of children and pets. Drafts, weather and other conditions may affect the performance, but treatment usually lasts 4 months. Each strips treats 100-200 cu. ft. of space. Use the appropriate number of strips for the space intended to be treated. Place strips uniformly in the area to be treated to facilitate a uniform treatment of the space. Record the date of installation and replace with a new, fresh, full-strength strip at the end of 4 months or when effectiveness diminishes.
• Do not use in food/feed areas of food/feed handling establishments.
• Within homes, use only in closets, wardrobes, and cupboards.
• If all the strips contained in the foil packet aren’t used, contain the remaining unused strips in the foil packet. Squeeze out as much air as possible from the foil packet, fold over the opened end at least twice and seal with tape to sufficiently protect your unused Nuvan Prostrips. The shelf life of Nuvan Prostrips may be diminished by as much as a month or more if left unused. It is not recommended to store Prostrips in zip lock plastic bags. The efficacy of Nuvan Prostrips is better protected in a foil-lined packet.

Each package contains 12 strips. Each strip treats 100-200 cubic feet for up to 4 months.

Also for use in storage units, garages, attics, crawl spaces, boathouses, museum collections, garbage cans, trash dumpsters, animal buildings, milk rooms, catch basins, bulk raw grain, storage bins, enclosed utility boxes, reptile houses, and terrariums. Use only in non-food/feed areas of food/feed handling establishments, such as garbage rooms, lavatories, floor drains (to sewer) entries and vestibules, offices, locker rooms, machine rooms, boiler rooms, utility equipment, garages, mop closets, and product storage (after canning or bottling).

Indoors

Household, Industrial, and Commercial Uses:

Garages, Storage Units, Attics, Crawl Spaces, Boathouses: NUVAN PROSTRIPS kills flies, mosquitoes, gnats and other insects as listed for up to four (4) months. Remove from foil pouch and hang or place, out of reach of children and pets, in an open space of an enclosed area, away from windows.

Garbage Cans, Trash Dumpsters and Trash Receptacles: For control of flying and crawling pests, place the appropriate number of strips within the trash receptacles such as compactors, garbage chutes, garbage rooms, garbage bins, and others.

Animal Buildings: Use NUVAN PROSTRIPS to control pests in animal buildings including stalls, barns, milk rooms, kennels, pens, poultry houses, manure storage and other such areas. Do not contaminate milk. Place strip in manure collection areas such as beneath egg layers and broilers but do not allow strip to be placed in areas directly occupied by poultry.

For Control of Bedbugs and Bedbug Eggs: Nuvan Prostrips may be used to control crawling bedbug nymphs and adults exposed to product vapors for 48 hours. In difficult to treat areas, a minimum treatment time of 72 hours will provide better results. Strip may be used to control bedbugs that have entered various items in an infested structure including, but not limited to: electronics, appliances, footwear, art work, collectibles, plush toys, clocks, radios, wall hangings, telephones, computers, printers, mattresses, box springs, books, lamps, furniture and similar items. Place infested items in a suitable plastic bag, poly sheeting, container or room that is closed to contain the strip treatment. Plastic bags or poly sheeting should be at least 2 mm thick. Take care to avoid direct contact of the strip with the surface of items being treated. Seal items in the containment for a minimum of 48 hours to kill bedbug nymphs and adults. To kill any bedbug eggs, if suspected to be present, seal items in the treated space for seven days. Seal plastic bags and poly sheeting with as much air space around the treated article as is practical as this will enhance the exposure to the product vapors. When treatment is completed, remove treated items from the treatment in a well ventilated area and air out for a period of not less than two hours.

Outdoors

Nuvan Prostrips are not intended for use outdoors.

Extra Tips

• It’s best to use strips once the foil packet has been opened. The foil packet may be resealed to prolong the useful life of unused Nuvan Prostrips. However, if not thoroughly sealed, the useful life of the remaining strips may be diminished.
• Do not use in areas where people will be present for prolonged periods of time, such as in offices, bedrooms, or kitchens. Within homes, use only in closets, wardrobes, and cupboards.
• Do not place strips less than four months old in the trash. If strips have no remaining useful life, wrap in paper, plastic or other suitable material and place in the trash or offer for recycling.
• Wear gloves when handling strips or wash hands thoroughly with soap and water after handling.
• Do not use in closets and wardrobes of rooms where infants, children and the sick or aged are or will be present for any extended period of confinement.
• Do not use in kitchens, restaurants, or other areas where food is prepared or served.
