    Q
So if the room is 13 by 13 by 8 feet high how many Nuvan Strips do I need?
If I do not seal the bins, just hang a Nuvan strip above them, will I still eliminate bedbugs?
    A
You could only treat a large room like that if it was in the basement or a storage room.  It is not safe to treat a room in a house where people would be opening the door and be inside the room.  This is not the intended use for Nuvan Prostrips.  If this room is a storage area, you must make sure there is no ventilation in the room or windows and doors that are not sealed properly.  The room must be air tight and you must leave the room enclosed for 2 weeks without opening it.  You should evenly distribute the items as much as possible.  A 13 x 13 x 8 room is 1352 cubic feet.  The strips treat 100 to 200 cubic feet, so you would need at least 7 Nuvan Strips, but you will probably get better results if you use about 10 strips.  The strips should be arranged so they cover the room evenly.

    Q
Can I use Nuvan ProStrips in the hall closet with our coats in it?
Is it safe to put a Nuvan Prostrip in the closet by the front door where we hang our winter coats? It will be opened at least 4 times a day and how about the vapor on the coats and backpacks, is it harmful?
    A
Nuvan ProStrips can be placed in a closet, however the closet would have to remain closed for at least 2 weeks.  If you will be opening the closet then it will not work because the vapor will constantly escape.  You would be better off placing the items in your closet you would like to treat in a plastic container or bag and placing the strip inside also, and not open them for 2 weeks.

    Q
Is it OK to use Nuvan Prostrips in a Kitchen pantry?
I have a nasty pantry moths infestation to control and they seem to be everywhere in the cabinets storing dry food. All salvaged food is in airtight containers now, but there are larvae in many appliances and crevices of the furniture: can I use the Nuvan Prostrips for this?
    A
Nuvan ProStrips can be placed in a closet, however the closet would have to remain closed for at least 2 weeks.  If you will be opening the closet then it will not work because the vapor will constantly escape.  We would recommend using our pantry pest kit which has a crack and crevice aerosol tool to get around shelving and baseboards where the larvae are hiding, and it also has pheromone traps for the adults that are flying around.

    Q
How many Nuvan ProStrips and for how long can I use for treatment of my car: it Volkswagen Golf TDI 2011.
Should I use the tape to cover the doors or any other measure to successfully treat the bedbugs in my car?
    A
You will need to determine how many cubic feet of space you need to treat and you will use 1 strip for every 100 cubic feet of space. The strips will need to stay sealed in the area for at least 3-4 weeks to be effective. You should make sure that the area is not tightly packed so that the vapor can move around and contact all of the space. We do not recommend that you use the Nuvan Strips as your sole protection against bedbugs. You should also use a product such as Bedlam or Sterifab to treat all of the cracks and crevices where the vapor may not be able to penetrate. For more information on the Nuvan strips you should contact the manufacturer directly at 888-462-6822.

    Q
What else can I use to get rid of fruit or phorid flies?
im using drain gels, clean air III, natural fruit fly traps, just trying to see what else i can be doing.
    A
The first thing we recommend you do is get a positive identification on the insect you are trying to eliminate. Many of the tiny flying insects get misidentified by home or business owners which leads to ineffective treatment programs. You can contact your local cooperative extension office and request to speak to the entomologist on staff. The entomologist will instruct you on how to obtain a sample of the insect and send it to them. If, as you thought it is indeed fruit flies then you MUST find the source of the infestation. Look under stoves, refrigerators, counters and the like for spilled fruit juices or fruits. In commercial kitchens you should clean soda lines and drip pans in and under equipment. Performing a thorough sanitation should help eliminate the source of the infestation. Even the best products on the market cannot overcome poor sanitation. The products you purchased will help get rid of the flying adults but without finding the source of infestation you will continue to see new adults everyday. Also, the use of fly lights in commercial kitchens should help with most fly infestations.

    Q
Would it be safe to put a nuvan strip inside of a rubbermaid storage container (the 50 gal), tape the seams of the container, and then place it inside of our bedroom closet?
We keep the door to the closet closed since our clothes aren't in there anymore. Should we tape around the closet door as well as the tote, or just move the container to the basement? We have a pet that lives full time in our room, and I want to be sure that nothing we do to get rid ourselves of these pests will harm her.
    A
You can indeed safely use the Nuvan strips in the rubbermaid container the way you described without any issues for your pet or yourself.

    Q
Can I reuse the same Nuvan Prostrip?
I plan to use Nuvan Prostrips to treat items that can't be laundered or washed easily. I know that the strips last for up to 4 months, and I know that to treat items, they should be exposed to the strips in a sealed 2 mil bag or duct-taped plastic container for 2-4 weeks. I would like to know if, after the 2-4 weeks, I can put new items to be treated in the same bag or container with the same strip (using it a 2nd and 3rd time, etc.) until 4 months has passed. Thank you.
    A
You can alternate the objects in the closed bag or bin and keep using the same Nuvan strip for up to 4 months.

    Q
Can you wear clothing (items that cannot be washed or dryed) after they have been treated with Nuvan ProStrips
I want to put the Nuvan ProStrips in my closets where my clothing is but most of the items cannot be washed or dryed in a clothes dryer. Can you wear the clothing after it has been treated without dry cleaning them since they cannot be washed. Is it safe to wear the clothes without washing, drying or dry cleaning them first?
    A
You do not have to wash clothing or other items that have been in a bag or bin with Nuvan strips. You should air the clothing out a for a few days prior to wearing it. You should also note that most dry cleaners agree that even though dry clean only clothing cannot be washed it can go through the dryer (do not wet clothing first) on med high heat to kill the bedbugs and bedbug eggs without harming the clothing.

    Q
    Baby items and books
My baby's clothes, crib, changing table, books, high chairs, toys, and jewelry have been in a room treated with Nuvan Strips. Is it safe to use them or should I get rid of them? Also, how do I use books and papers after treatment?
    A
All of the items should be fine to use as the Nuvan Strips are designed to not harm or leave an odor in treated items, only to build up a vapor to kill the insects. Clothes and stuffed animals may want to be thrown in the washer or dryer just in case to make sure there are no lingering vapors or bugs on the items the baby would come into close contact with. Also, the Nuvan strips are not to be used in rooms, only confined no airflow areas such as storage containers and trash bags that the items are placed in. If you have any other questions on how the Nuvan may affect other items, please contact Amvac at 1-888-462-6822.

Exterminator put Nuvan strips in closet after treating apt for bed bugs
An exterminator placed a nuvan strips in my clothing and linen closets after treating my apartment for bed bugs. He used a total of 5 strips, 1 in each closet. He didn't mention needing to keep closets closed for 2 weeks and didn't mention needing to air out clothes before wearing them. Should I remove the Nuvan strips from the closets that I use daily? Do I need to put the clothes in the dryer before wearing or can i just remove the strip and air out the closet? Any advice is greatly greatly appreciated!

We are going to suggest that you contact the manufacturer for the best procedure for this usage of the product since it is not the usage that we would recommend for this item. You can reach Amvac at 1-888-462-6822.

    Q
Can I use Nuvan strips outside for a bee infestation under my hot tub structure? Will it remain potent enough?
    A
The Nuvan strips must be kept in a confined space where there is not any air flow to circulate for at least 2 weeks. As long as the air flow is limited and the vapor can build below the hot tub, the strips would work to eliminate the bees. If you can not limit the air flow, you may want to try dustin the hole they are entering through with a product like Delta Dust. It is a waterproof dust that will do a great job of getting picked up on the bodies of the bees and carried through the colony. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    Q
Can we just treat the clothes in the closet with the Nuvan Strip without bagging?
If we have a closet that is under 200 sq. cubic feet can we just place a strip in the closet and have that be the treatment for our clothing? Or should we bag up the clothes with a strip?
    A
You will need to bag up the clothing as the way the stips work is by building up a vapor in an area over time that has zero air flow. The closet if not taped shut around all door cracks will allow the vapor to escape and will diminish the effects of the product. Bag up all clothes planned to be treated that can't just be thrown in the dryer for 45 minutes, and leave closed tight with the strip for 1-2 weeks. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    Q
How long should a NuVan ProStrip remain in an closet to eradicate any remaining clothes moths or eggs?
The closet will be taped off, I also want to ensure its safe to sleep in the room with the closet being treated while it's taped off?
    A

Nuvan ProStrips are labeled to be effective from 2 weeks to 4 months in a closet for insect control. They are labeled for moths not specifically clothes moths. You want to allow the vapors in an enclosed area to build up to a level that will be lethal to the insects that your are trying to eliminate. Opening and closing the doors to these enclosed spaces may result in poor efficacy. It is best to make sure things are loosely packed into the areas to insure that the vapors can adequately circulate through the items that need to be treated. You may contact the manufacturer for more information at 888.462.6822. Q
Can I use Nuvan Strips to eliminate bedbugs in my packed luggage?
I don't want to bring bed bugs home and it was suggested to put suit cases in a large plastic bag with nuvan prostrips after trips. My question is, will that work and when I go to use my suit case again, will the vapors be absorbed into the suit case and hence in the clothes I will be putting in there. I don't want the vapors to get onto my clothes and then onto me.
    A
You would need to remove the clothing and throw it right in the wash and then you could put the suitcase in a sealed bag with a Nuvan Pro Strip. The bag would need to stay sealed for 3-4 weeks for best results.
