Product Overview

Tip from the manufacturer: Do not use more than 2 traps in your home at a time. Using more than the recommended number of traps can make your home over saturated with the attractant and the moths will become confused and will not enter the traps.

This complete pantry pest kit includes six Pro-Pest Pheronet traps for catching pantry moths and beetles, plus a 14 oz. can of D-Fense NXT with a crevice tool (straw) for spraying in cracks and crevices around shelves and walls to kill pantry pest larvae in harborage areas. All contaminated food should be removed prior to treatment. Use products as directed on their corresponding labels. D-Fense NXT features a powerful combination of three active ingredients: Novaluron, Deltamethrin, and Pyriproxyfen which offers three modes of action to provide quick knockdown and long-lasting control of pantry pests.

*Remove food items and utensils before cleaning, vacuuming, and applying insecticides. Apply D-Fense NXT in corners, along the edges of shelves against walls, behind and under appliances and cabinets, and in other areas where pests and larvae are likely to be found.

*Do not allow D-Fense NXT to contact food/feed surfaces. If it does, clean surfaces with soap and water.

*Flip up the yellow crack and crevice straw to a horizontal position for detailed spot treatments. Fix the straw down (vertically) to use the wider nozzle.

To use this trap simply remove the release paper on the trap to expose the glue. The trap is already pre-baited with pheromones, so all you need to do is form the trap into a box form and hang it in areas of moth activity.

D-Fense NXT features a powerful combination of three active ingredients: Novaluron, Deltamethrin, and Pyriproxyfen which offers three modes of action to provide quick knockdown and long-lasting control of pantry pests. and a wide variety of other crawling and flying pests for up to 8 weeks.

This kit is the bomb !!!!

    By Cathy on 12/19/2011

    Verified Purchase

Somehow my small hall closet that I use as a kitchen pantry had become totally infested with a moth looking creature that I had no clue what they were so I called and found out they were pantry moths. The very helpful young lady who answered the phone answered my many questions, told me what to do and suggested this kit. Got it, scrubbed everything with hot soapy water like she told me to do, sprayed, and then put out 2 traps (one in the closet and one in the kitchen) and 48 hours later they were all GONE and haven't seen another one since. Domyownpestcontrol.com is my go to place for great helpful information, quality products and fair and reasonable prices!!!!

Great Product and even better customer service

    By Mary on 08/14/2012

I purchased this pantry kit a month ago. I had a horrible infestation of moths. They came home with me in dog food/biscuits or bird seed. These moths are really hard to kill. I first used the traps. After two separate orders I realized I needed the spray. I had emptied everything out of my pantry and found them hiding in those holes that you can raise and lower the shelves. After spraying and trapping I can happily say I am 'moth free'. I had some issues with my can and their customer service totally satisfied my problems. I am a very happy customer!

    Pantry Moths Nightmare

    By Jw on 06/07/2012

    Verified Purchase

I purchased the traps at first and they worked, however the moths kept coming and traps were full, finally ordered the kit and the spray has seem to done the job. I see one here and there but I just ordered more traps to put in cabinets for precaution. The pantry moths are hard to get rid...takes time and lots of patience...

There is peace in my kitchen once again

    By Maria on 07/13/2012

    Verified Purchase

I had a three week infestation of mostly Indian Meal and some Angoumois grain moths. I sprayed with supermarket bug spray and then went on "hunts" of these beasts with a portable vacuum cleaner every night at sunset. Thank goodness for the internet and DoMyOwnPestControl.com. I was to identify the pests. I ordered the Pantry Pest Kit and followed ALL of the instructions - got rid of all the foods the bugs liked - including teas/spices, washed everything down with soap and water and sprayed every crack and seam in my kitchen cabinets with the spray. After 3 days, the nightly post-sunset crop of moths stopped. The adhesive tents have captured a couple more. The product that did the trick was the spray. It had an odor - but was not nearly as offensive-smelling as the over the counter spray I used unsuccessfully.

    Pantry Pest Control Kit Review

    By Phyllis on 08/14/2012

    Verified Purchase

I was suddenly over-run with Pantry Moths and astounded at the number of them. I ordered the kit on my brother's advice. We removed everything, went through each item, threw away, or put items in storage bags for observation. We removed the shelving, repapered it and wiped the walls down. We put the spray in the cracks of the shelf supports and anywhere they could hide. We reshelved the canned goods and bagged items then installed the pantry pest traps, vacumned every flying moth or moth in the house. We put unaffected flour, meal, rice in the freezer. Now, after about two weeks, we are seldom seeing a moth, as they die out. Great product!!

Q
How to get rid of moths in whole house?

I ordered your pantry pest kit last week and am waiting for it to arrive. We've had moths (mostly visible during warm months) for over a year, and they're in 7 rooms on 2 floors of our house. So far, not in basement or bsmt apt that we know. We've cleaned with regular cleaners and even sprayed a mix of ammonia and water. We've put out 7 of the Revenge moth traps which we got at the local hardware store (they say 1 trap per room). We kill an average of 8 to 10 moths per day by hand. Should we get rid of the Revenge moth traps, and use only the traps in your pantry pest kit? Should we get another product to help solve this problem? Please help! Thanks

A

The best tip we can give you is to catch a moth and take it to your Local Cooperative Extension office and have the Entomologist on staff identify the species. If you are using a trap that only targets a certain species of moth with its pheromone, and that's not the type of moth you have, then the traps will not work no matter how many you have or what kind. You also want to make sure you don't have too many traps up, as too many traps can cause you to not catch any moths as well. Most traps have a sexual pheromone to only attract the male moths to them to help interrupt the reproductive cycle. If there are too many traps, the air becomes oversaturated with pheromone and the moth cant tell the difference between the trap and all the other air in the room and won't be directed to the trap. The female moths will not go to the traps so you would still need to kill those that are flying around. If you identify what kind of moth you have and the traps you have ordered apply to it, then you may need to use fewer traps to avoid over-saturation. Also, you need to clean out everything, throw away any infested food, and treat all cracks and crevices of baseboards, cabinets, and furniture in the area. The larvae will normally be left in crevices and can crawl in spots hard to see. Using a crack and crevice residual spray like Cy-Kick or D-Force will help give long-term control over the babies. You can also put up Gentrol Point Source Stations to add a birth control to the mix. These will release a vapor in the air undetected by us but will affect the moths flying in the area and prevent them from creating more. You can review our article How To Get Rid of Pantry Moths for other steps for treating your home. Feel free to contact us if you have any other questions.

Q
I have kitchen moths. How long is their life span? I think I found the nest in a bag of dog food.
A
We would recommend discarding any opened or infested food (human or dog). Please store all items in sealed containers. You will clean all the cabinets, pantries and drawers out and wash with hot, soapy water to rid of any larvae on the shelving. After these surfaces are cleaned and dried completely, you will apply the products in our Pantry Pest Kit. The traps will lure and catch the adult males disrupting the life cycle. The crack and crevice application will offer a 4 week residual for treatment. The life span of a pantry moth varies depending on food and temperatures. The average is 8-12 weeks for one generation. Four to six generations could take residence in a home. This is from egg-adult (egg-1week, larvae-4-6 weeks, pupae- 1-2 weeks, adult 1-2 weeks).

Q
I have an infestation of very small moths in my pantry. What should I do to get rid of them?

I am getting ready to place an order for Max Force.

A
Maxforce bait will not work for pantry moths. The best way to eliminate pantry moths is to find the infested food items and dispose of them  immediately and thoroughly clean the infested cabinet. The moth larva (immature moths) can usually be found in grain products such as pasta, rice, flour, or spices. The adult moths and wandering larva can be killed with D-Fense NXT. The active male moths can be lured and trapped with the Pro-pest Pantry Moth trap. We have put together A Pantry Pest kit that contains everything you need to get rid of the pantry moths.

Q
Confused Flour Beetle

Reading the reviews of the product it seems people are using it to get rid of moths mostly. My problem however is confused flour beetle and I'm wondering if the same product would help with that?

A
The Pantry Pest Kit is a wonderful solution for flour beetles. D-Fense NXT is labeled to kill flour beetles. You will need to make sure you take out any infested food and throw away and put lids and/or bag the items that are out. You will spray this product in the cracks and crevices of the pantry area. The traps are labeled to be used for moths as well as beetles.

Q
After applying the D-Force spray from the Pantry Pest Kit, do I need to line the shelving with cupboard liners?
A

It is not required to line shelving after using any of the products in the Pantry Pest Kit, although it certainly would not hurt anything if you choose to do so.  Be sure all food and food handling items are removed prior to treatment. Allow the treated area to completely dry before replacing items.
