  • Asked by John from Harrisburg, Pa

    Q
Is NyGuard IGR stronger or more concentrated than Archer IGR?
NyGuard is 10% pyridine and Archer is 1.3% pyridine. Which one is more effective? NyGuard comes in 140 ML and Archer comes in a pint(460 ML), however NyGuard is much more expensive.
    A

Nyguard is sold in a more concentrated form, but you will dilute down to the same usage rate as the Archer if you follow the product label, .01-.03%. You will get the same results when using either product.

  • Asked by Stan from Eagleville Tn
    10/01/2015
    Q
    Will Nyguard work on bedbugs?
    A

Nyguard IGR is not currently labeled for bedbug control and has not been tested for efficacy on bedbugs. There is only one insect growth regulator labeled for bedbug control, Gentrol IGR. Gentrol must be used in conjucntion with an insecticide to be effective. Please take a few moments to read over our Bedbug Treatment Guide to learn hot to implement a sucessful bedbug treatment program.

  • Asked by Art from Cary, Nc
    03/22/2016
    Q
Even though it's a little early in the year for mosquitoes to be out, will using an IGR like NyGuard IGR on the first seasonal treatment help prevent reproduction?
Using Nyguard with Bifen IT for mosquito prevention
    A

You can always add an IGR labeled for mosquitoes such as NyGuard IGR to your insecticide. Mosquitoes generally do not bite when temperatures are less than 50 degrees F, and they do need a water source to breed. It is always best to treat preventatively than to wait until populations are high. Please see our Mosquito Prevention Guide for more information about how to keep populations down.

  • Asked by Sharon from Richmond, Va
    08/25/2016
    Q
How do you apply NyGuard IGR to rooms with hardwood floors?
    A

NyGuard IGR would be applied to the cracks and crevices around the rooms with hard floor surfaces.  In most cases, the fleas will develop in upholstered furniture, pet beds, rugs and carpeted areas as hard surfaces are not very habitable for them.  Spray directly into cracks and crevices on the floor as well. Vacuuming the crevices immediately before spraying will help to remove some of the flea eggs and stimulate the developing pupa to become exposed. With heavy infestations, you may need to retreat after 14 days to get rid of the stragglers.

  • Asked by Kirk from Ca
    11/04/2016
    Q
What are the best adulticides to mix with NyGuard for German cockroaches?
    A

A great option for Gentrol roach control would be Temprid SC mixed with Nyguard IGR. Temprid SC has two active ingredients in it that work together to combat insects. It can be used every 21 days indoors for roaches as needed. The mixing ratio is between 8-16 ml per gallon of water. Also, it is recommended that you use a bait gel, such as Maxforce Magnum, inside of your cabinets and drawers. Be sure not to spray any insecticide on the bait gel, because it will contaminate it and roaches will not consume it.

Please check out our Roach Guide with tips on how to treat and prevent roaches.

  • Asked by Regina from Springfield, Mo
    07/13/2017
    Q
What insecticide is best to mix with NyGuard for lawns for German roaches?
We have German roaches in our yard from a used piece of furniture sitting on the curb. I am 100% sure they are German. I am using Cyper WSP monthly on the perimeter of the house but want to get rid of them in the yard as much as possible. I would like an insecticide that will last as long as possible in the elements. I would appreciate knowing application rates for both products (the Nyguard IGR and insecticide) and also how often to apply both (either separately or together). Thank you!
    A

Cyzmic CS is a great option for use in your lawn for German roaches. This can be mixed with Nyguard IGR and sprayed at the same time. The mixing rate is 0.4 fl oz per gallon of water. This will last for approximately 30 days outdoors and can be reapplied every 21 days.

Can you give me an amount of NyGuard IGR per gallon of water for mosquitoes over a 2 acre area please?

  • Asked by Carol from Robbins
    11/26/2018
    Q
Can NyGuard IGR be sprayed directly on cats and dogs?
I have a really bad infestation in my home. I vacuum everyday, I have bathed all the pets. I cannot remove them all from the house to spray. I was told to get the Nyguard for lice spray and I could use that directly on the animals is that true?
    A

No, neither NyGuard IGR nor NyGuard Plus is labeled to be used directly on animals.

FLEE Plus IGR Aerosol is an insecticide spray for dogs and cats that are at least 8 weeks of age. It kills fleas and ticks to control infestations for up to 30 days and begins working within 5 minutes of application.

  • Asked by R. from Pa
    09/13/2018
    Q
What is the best insecticide and IGR combination to get rid of carpet beetles?
I had my house professionally sprayed and the exterminator used Onslaught and Nyguard. I was wondering if they are the most effective products to use. I do not have a big infestation anymore, but still feel the need to spray again. Finally, after I get rid of all of them in my home, is there something I can spray periodically to prevent carpet beetles?
    A

Onslaught Insecticide and NyGuard IGR  are both great products to apply for carpet beetles. You should treat quarterly to the interior crevices. Please take a few moments to review our treatment article on How to Get Rid of Carpet Beetles for additional tips and non-chemical methods to help eliminate and prevent this insect.

I was told by the bug man to purchase NyGuard IGR. We found bed bugs and he said it was foam.

NyGuard IGR does not come in foam formulation and this IGR is not labeled for bed bugs. If bedbugs have been found in your home we recommend using one of our Bedbug Kits.
