Whether or not you use the entire mixed solution of Orthene PCO Pellets will depend on the amount of area you are treating. If you have completed your entire treatment and you still have solution left over you will need to dispose of the remainder because after 24 hours it starts to lose its efficacy.

The odor that the Orthene PCO Pellets has comes from its active ingredient Acephate, which is why the product is for outdoor use and is not to be used indoors. The indoor spray guidelines advise it should only be done by a pest control operator. You can try to rub the treated areas down with soap and water and let air out however we would recommended speaking with your Doctor on any precautions needed before re-entering the home.

Please view our Bed Bug Treatment Guide and Bed Bug Kits for the best treatment plan to eliminate bed bugs. Choose the kit for the total number of bedrooms you have, not just the number of rooms where activity is observed.

  • Asked by Karen from Iowa, La

    Q
Are the Orthene pellets supposed to be mixed with water? I've been applying them directly on the mounds.
    A

Yes Orthene PCO Pellets should be mixed with water as directed on the product label

Ants, Fire and Harvester (excluding carpenter and pharaoh ants) in mounds within a treated perimeter: In order to control a mound or nest, a drench treatment is necessary.

For mound drench treatment, dissolve 1 packet (1.4 oz.) of Orthene PCO Pellets in 9 gals. of water. Apply 1 gal. of mix to each mound by sprinkling the mound until it is wet and treat a 4 ft. diameter circle around the mound. For best results, apply Orthene PCO Pellets in the early morning or late afternoon when ants are most active. Mound drench applications made under prolonged hot and dry conditions may be ineffective due to the location of ants deep within the nest.
