Wand Issue
By Dale on 08/25/2019
I have used this product for years and have never had any issue with it doing a good job. My complaint is with the wand. I have the new battery type wand and this is my third unit that has had a bad wand. It works for a couple of months then quits. I have changed batteries and it is still dead. I am getting ready to just start putting it in pressure tanks and spraying from there. The wand needs to be researched and determine why they are not lasting long. The only pull handle worked better than this new design.

Can' tell

I hear it's a pretty effective product by those who were able to get it out of its container. Seriously, your Ortho wand is a joke. Only wish you offered the old fashioned pump spray. Unfortunately, our landfills are filling fast with battery operated Ortho sprayers.

It really works
By Cheryl on 03/09/2019
Ortho did not touch the outer block where dirt or plants will be. None of the dirt to fill the bed has been added yet. Is it still safe to plant or do I need some type of additional barrier? Or do I need to wait a year before planting?
Neither of the active ingredients in Ortho Home Defense MAX is known to leach in the soil. Consequently, any treated soil should be kept outside the root zones of the intended plants.

It sounds like you may have fungus gnats; if so, Bonide Systemic Insecticide Granules are convenient, ready to use granules that provide effective control of fungus gnats for up to 8 weeks as directed.

I know this was a mistake managed to spray whole lawn with the wrong container, just wondering how long and what precautions should be take to make it safe to relax on again?
The insecticides found in the Ortho Home Defense are not harmful to plants, however you would need to keep it off of and outside the dripline of any edible vegetation such as a vegetable garden, herbs, or fruit trees. Once the spray has completely dried you can return to the treated area.
When a manufacturer says "other" on a product label those ingredients are not active ingredients but they are part of the proprietary formula and they are not shared. We can only share that the active ingredients in Ortho Home Defense MAX Insect Killer Indoor & Perimeter with Comfort Wand are bifenthrin & zeta-cypermethri

When I use this product in my home is it safe for dogs?
I have a bottle left after buying home defense ortho to kill ants around the house I don't know where I put the sprayer where can I buy any sprayer to use my second bottle please
Any one gallon pump sprayer, such as the Chapin 20000 model or you can purchase a 1 gallon sprayer at any of the large box stores or hardware stores.
I sprayed my foundation with Ortho Home Defense MAX Insect Killer Indoor & Perimeter including a small stucco section that borders my vegetable garden. No overspray or drift contacted the foliage or root zones of the vegetables but wondering if this is okay and they can still be harvested?
If Ortho Home Defense MAX Insect Killer Indoor & Perimeter with Comfort Wand was used as directed on the product label, and absolutely no drift has not contacted any of the plants or the root zone in any way whatsoever, it should be safe.
However, you may wish to contact the manufacturer directly for specific product support by either calling 1-800-255-2883 or by visiting www.ortho.com.
Ortho Home Defense MAX Insect Killer Indoor & Perimeter with Comfort Wand is labeled for fleas indoors but can only be applied around the perimeters of the rooms along baseboards, under cabinets, sinks, around windows and doors.
The Indoor Flea Kit would be a better option as fleas require broadcast spray applicaitons to carpets, rugs, pet bedding, etc every 14 days.
View our Indoor Flea Kit Video and Flea Treatment Guide for more information.
As long as you keep pets/children out of the area while you treat and until the Ortho Home Defense MAX Insect Killer Indoor & Perimeter with Comfort Wand has had time to completely dry it is safe for pets and people to return and resume normal activity, typically after 1 hour inside.
