    Will Ortho Home Defense harm shrubs or bushes if spray gets on them?

    The insecticides found in the Ortho Home Defense are not harmful to plants, however you would need to keep it off of and outside the dripline of any edible vegetation such as a vegetable garden, herbs, or fruit trees.

    I sprayed my whole carpet with Ortho Home Defense MAX Insect Killer Indoor & Perimeter, not just around the baseboards. Is that okay? What should I do now?

    The Ortho Home Defense MAX Insect Killer Indoor & Perimeter is not labeled to be used as a broadcast spray. Ortho Home Defense MAX Insect Killer Indoor & Perimeter should only be applied to cracks and crevices indoors and to the exterior perimeter foundation of the house. This product can be applied around baseboards where carpet is present, but it is not meant to be sprayed over all of the carpet. You want to make sure you apply it according to the product label and avoid any excessive spraying. We would recommend cleaning your carpet.

    Per the product Label , the Ortho Home Defense MAX Insect Killer Indoor & Perimeter with Comfort Wand can be applied as needed. However retrement is recommeded at least once per season outdoors.

    There should be no issue using soil that was treated with Ortho Home Defense MAX Insect Killer Indoor & Perimeter as long as it is not soil used for edible plantings.

    I purchase a bottle and the wand stop spraying so I purchased another bottle and the same thing happen to the wand again. It has fresh batteries and I am very careful with the wands. Please help.

    What happens if I used Ortho Home Defense on garden plants?
    I needed to grab my garden insect killer but grabbed the ortho home defense and sprayed along the base of my garden plants. It didn't get on any of the vegetables (squash and pumpkins).

    Can we use "Ortho Home Defense MAX Insect Killer Indoor & Perimeter" on hardwood floors? (baseboards)
    We have an issue with Flour beetles (were late to notice... so these beetles appear to have spread all over the house...). Can we use this on the baseboards of our living room (hardwood floors)? Could we spray inside our (now empty) kitchen cupboards? How long should we keep the product (ortho spray) before removing it with soap water? (so we can move back the kitchen stuff within the kitchen cabinets)? Thanks,

    Ortho Home Defense MAX Insect Killer Indoor & Perimeter can only be used along baseboards in kitchens , you cannot use inside cabinets.  Though it is not labeled for beetles at all.  Instead we would recommend our Pantry Pest Kit and also have a great guide here.   The aerosol can be used as a crack and crevice treatment in the emptied cabinets around the shelves and the traps can be used to draw in and attract and trap the moths. It is critical that you inspect the area for infested items so that you can locate and eliminate the source of the infestation.

    Is it safe for Ortho Home Defense MAX Insect Killer for Indoor to be sprayed in my cabinets?

    Ortho Home Defense MAX Insect Killer Indoor & Perimiter RTU is safe to apply indoors and outdoors.  If you sprayed the product in a cabinet, you will want to remove and wash all contents, as well as the surface of the interior of the cabinet itself with soap and warm water.  
    Per the product label, all food processing surfaces and utensils, as well as food, should be covered or removed before application.  After application, people and pets may re-enter the treated area after the application has dried, and be sure to thoroughly was all food processing surfaces and utensils with soap and water before reuse.  If you wish to contact the manufacturer directly with further questions specific to this product, you can call the Ortho Group at 1-800-225-2883, or via their website's contact page here.

    No, Ortho Home Defense MAX Insect Killer Indoor & Perimeter with Comfort Wand is only meant to used around the perimeter of your home outdoors and around baseboards, cracks and crevices indoors. This is not meant to be used on plants.

    A good option would be the use the Bayer Advanced 3-in-1 Insect Disease Mite Control RTU on your indoor plants. This product is an insecticide, fungicide and miticide all on one. This can be applied every 7-14 days as needed.

    I get that the spray - once dry - is not a problem to birds, but want to know if the insects that "acquire" the poison are then toxic to birds who may eat them.

    Both of the active ingredients in Ortho Home Defense MAX Insect Killer Indoor & Perimeter with Comfort Wand, Bifenthrin & Cypermethrin have a low toxicity to birds according to the National Pesticide Information Center.
