Product Overview

Osmocote Blend 18-5-12 (8-9M) is controlled-release homogenous fertilizer that features Quickstart formulation for general purpose application on foliage, nursery plants, flower beds, and landscapes. It has 18-5-12 NPK formulation combined with essential micronutrients to provide nourishment to your plants and enhance their growth. It contains 100% resin-coated N-P-K nutrient granules, combined with uncoated prills and STEP Hi-Mag granular micronutrients. The uncoated water-soluble granules quickly release important nutrients which help establish newly planted plants and flowers, while the resin-coated nutrient cores absorb moisture and feed the plants slowly within 9 months period. It is great for quick greening applications, as well as to neutralize the nitrogen draw of green bark. The STEP Hi-Mag helps improve the balance of trace elements so it can maximize plant development. Product can be incorporated or surface-applied and it provides longevity of up to 8-9 months. Comes in 50 lb. bag.

  • Verify your product analysis, longevity and rate for your plants in your production system.
  • Rate tables are printed on bag labels and can be found on product information sheets.
  • For incorporation, blend into growing media to ensure uniform distribution of fertilizer prills. Do not over-mix to avoid damaging fertilizer coating. Growing media should be used within two to four weeks after incorporating fertilizer.
  • For top-dress applications, refer to suggested rate tables on bag labels and product sheets. Uniformly spread fertilizer on container surface; avoid piling fertilizer dose directly against plant stem.
  • Irrigate after application. Irrigation frequency and volume should be adjusted during the crop production cycle according to crop type, environmental conditions and desired soluble salt levels.
  • A product trial is recommended before adopting a new fertilizer program or making full-scale changes to standard cultural practices. Test several rates on representative plant types.
  • Use caution when applying to plants being over-wintered under cover. If you cannot monitor soluble salts and/or adjust irrigation practices, avoid Fall and Winter application.

The following application rates are intended for general container nursery stock growing conditions. Product and rate selection should always be based on individual grower practices and environmental conditions. Some factors that influence selection include:

  • Climate
  • Specific Crop
  • Type of Growing Media
  • Other Nutrient Sources
  • Irrigation Type
  • Rainfall Amount
