Overture 35 WP Insecticide has a mode of action that cannot be found in other products allowing it to combat thrips (even western flower thrips) and lepidopterous insects that may have developed resistance to other products. Use Overture 35 WP Insecticide in a rotation with other products in your greenhouse and remember that Overture 35 WP Insecticide has little effect on beneficial insects. This wettable powder is 35% pyridalyl and intended for enclosed greenhouses on a variety of plants.
Overture 35 WP Insecticide works primarily on contact but also works through ingestion as well. On many plants (such as chrysanthemums, hibiscus, poinsettia, and gerbera daisy) Overture 35 WP Insecticide demonstrates translaminar activity allowing for control of thrips even when you may not be able thoroughly spray under the leaf.

Overture 35 WP Insecticide is a wettable powder insecticide containing 35 percent active ingredient pyridalyl for enclosed greenhouse use. Overture 35 WP Insecticide provides control of thrips (including Western flower thrips) and the larvae of various lepidopteran insect pests infesting greenhouse grown ornamentals, including flowering and foliage crops, ground covers, shrubs and ornamental trees, and non-bearing fruit and nut trees grown indoors.
Overture 35 WP Insecticide controls insects by both contact and ingestion activity, although contact activity is dominant and faster than ingested activity. Reapplication of Overture 35 WP Insecticide to maintain insect control should be repeated only as directed.
Overture 35 WP Insecticide also has strong translaminar activity on a variety of plants, including poinsettia, hibiscus, gerbera daisy and chrysanthemums. Overture 35 WP Insecticide applied to the upper leaf surface will rapidly penetrate the leaf cuticle, and can subsequently be ingested by immature and adult insects feeding on the lower leaf surface. Therefore, even in cases where it is difficult to achieve thorough under-leaf spray coverage, Overture 35 WP Insecticide can still provide highly effective control.

Is this product safe for use on orchids for control of thrips?
No, this product does not come as a liquid. The amount of water used with this product depends on what you are treating for. If you are treating for thrips, you will use 8 oz. of solution in 100 gallons of water. This product is for use in an enclosed greenhouse only. If you are not treating in a greenhouse, I would recommend Adonis 2F Termiticide/Insecticide. This is a liquid and is easier to use. For orchids, you will use .46 to .6 fl oz of solution in nothing less than 2 gallons of water.

Thrip control in greenhouse.
If you are treating for thrips, you will use 8 oz. (4 x 2 oz packs) of Orthene 35 WP in 100 gallons of water. The product is for commercial greenhouses not for residential use. The smallest amount that could be used would be 1 x 2 oz pack in 25 gallons as there is not a way to breakdown the packs into smaller amounts. Tristar 8.5 or Avid would be better options that can be mixed down in smaller quantities.
