    Q
Will pastoring kill zoysia in lawn application
    A
Because Pastora Herbicide is specifically labeled as NOT for use on lawns, by the manufacturer, we cannot advise that you apply it to a Zoysia lawn, or predict what impact an application such as that may result in.  You may wish to contact Bayer for product support by calling 1-800-331-2867.

    Q
Can Pastora Herbicide be applied as field prep for a pollinator plot? If so, how soon can it be planted?
    A

We would need to know a little more information in order to assist you accurately in this question. If you are trying to kill all living vegetation on a plot of land, and then quickly replant flowers or similar plants for attracting pollinating insects, RoundUp would typically be the product suggested. Its a non selective herbicide (meaning it will kill most vegetation it is sprayed on) and breaks down in the soil within about 1-2 weeks for quick replant timing. If you are not wanting to eliminate all vegetation while leaving some grasses/desirable vegetation, and plan to plant over/within an existing desirable plant type, we would have to know specifically what the desirable plants were and what the non desirable target weeds would be that you want to eliminate. The Pastora Herbicide can only be applied to bermuda pastures and meadows safely so if this is not the grass type you have, Pastora would not be the best option for you.

  • Asked by Janet from Huntsville, Texas
    08/22/2021
    Q
How do I mix Pastora Herbicide in a 20 gallon tank for spot spraying?
    A

Application rates of Pastora Herbicide vary from 1 oz - 2.5 oz. per 100 gallons of water per acre.

If filling a 20 gallon sprayer, you would use 0.2 oz to 5 oz in 20 gallons of water depending on the weeds you are targeting. When using a pre-emergent the amount of water could be more or less as water is just the carrier and it is more important to be sure you are applying the correct amount of product per area.

  • Asked by Ra from Collin County, Tx
    08/04/2021
    Q
How would I apply Pastora Herbicide in 100 gallons of water to the acre?
The instructions state "1 - 2.5 oz. per 100 gallons of water per acre". My trailer mounted sprayer can be adjusted to spray 15-25 gallons per acre . I normally spray 20-22 gal. /acre. So, how can I get 100 gal. to the acre, make 5 passes? Or, will this product work with 20-25 gallons of water per acre? Thanks.
    A

The rate is 1 to 1.5 fl oz of Pastora Herbicide per 100 gallons of water per acre for broadcast applications. For spot treatments, you are using 2.5 fl oz in no less than 25 gallons of water per acre. per 100 gallons of water per acre. For best results, a Non Ionic Surfactant is recommended per the product label at 32 fl oz per 100 gallons of water.

If doing broadcast treatments over the entire acre, you would divide the rate of Pastora Herbicide by 4. This is how many fl oz of Pastora Herbicdie you will add to each fill of the 25 gallon tank sprayer along with 8 fl oz of Non Ionic Surfactant per tank fill.  Make 4 passes of the 25 gallons of mixed solution to evenly and thoroughly cover the entire acre. A

    Q
Will injecting Pastora in the stem go farther to the root than spraying the leaves?
    A

There are no instructions on whether the Pastora can be injected in the stem to go farther to the root, therefore we cannot advice this type of application.Pastora Herbicide  works best if 1-2 inches of rain or irrigatin are applied after application. This will help move the product to the root zone.

  • Asked by Fred from Ok
    05/14/2021
    Q
Can I use Pastora Herbicide for sandburs?
    A

Pastora Herbicide is labeled for established Bermuda pastures if used as directed. In regards to sandbur control, the label states the following:  "Apply when sandbur is newly germinated to 1.5” tall. Make applications when bermudagrass is less than 4” tall following green-up in the spring or after cutting for hay. Tall, dense stands of bermudagrass can intercept spray and reduce sandbur control. In some areas, sandbur may overwinter and start the new season with an established root system. For overwintering sandbur or newly germinated sandbur that is greater than 1.5” tall, applications of Pastora® Herbicide may only suppress growth resulting in a reduction in sandbur seedheads. For best results in these situations, apply Pastora® Herbicide in a tank mix with 2.5 to 4.1 ounces active ingredient glyphosate per acre (such as 4 to 6 fluid ounces of a 5.5 pound/gallon product or 5 to 8 fluid ounces of a 4 pound/gallon product). A follow-up application of Pastora® Herbicide may be necessary to control subsequent germination (flushes) of sandbur following the first application or when the first application was made to larger sandbur or under unfavorable environmental conditions. Sandbur Management should be part of an overall pasture management plan which includes good fertility, adequate moisture (rainfall, irrigation), insect and rodent control, and other agronomic practices which maximize bermudagrass growth. In contrast, sandbur control in areas with thin stands of bermudagrass may not be satisfactory.
